That will NEVER happen and
UK should give Northern Ireland (Ulster) back to Ireland.

How will they get themselves back out of the European Union, though?
They need to get their history books straight; it was Pope Alexander III that gave all of Ireland to the English King Henry II following the Norman invasion, in 1172.

Agreed, but I wonder if this is not a prelude to England getting out of the EU. I think that vote is set for next year, after parliamentary elections later this year — if I follow things correctly.
Grandad fought for Irish independence. They only got some.

Lord Diljit Rana, that doesn’t sound very English to me...

Oh, HELL no!
And, Brits out of the six counties of Northern Ireland!

Give it 20 years, demographics will probably take care of the issue by itself. The population already has become equal. Two or three counties already have Catholic majorities if I’m not mistaken.

People in general have no idea of the centuries of abuse the Irish have endured at the hands of the Brits. There's a reason they remained neutral in World War II and it had nothing to do with any love of Germans or Germany.

There will never be that so long as the European Union exists. The politicians of Leinster House just stand meekly by while the Bundestag pores over Irelands national budget. I feel like I would be waiting forever for any Irish person to call for the Germans to get out of all 32 traditional counties.
BTW, speaking of counties, did you know that County Dublin was split into four pieces, those being Dublin City, County
Fingal, South County Dublin and County Dún
Laoghaire/Rathdown?

UK should give Northern Ireland (Ulster) back to Ireland.Unfortunately for that little plan, the majority of the population of Northern Ireland are Protestant Unionists who don't want to be part of the Republic.

People in general have no idea of the centuries of abuse the Irish have endured at the hands of the Brits. Much of the potato famine was manufactured, as the Brits confiscated the healthy crops and shipped them to England. The British also made off-coast fishing off-limits to the Irish as well. My ancestors (and every other Irish family) were forced to tithe to the Anglican Church; shortly after the Brits seized their farm in County Mayo in 1848, my great-great-grandparents came to the US.
Damned right the Irish endured abuse from the Brits for centuries. They have no love for anything British whatsoever.

I hate to say that Ive got more in common with the Unionists these days than the overly-liberal modern people of the Republic. At least the North didnt allow a
mega-mosque to be built within the city limits of its capital, although the Muslims there are still
trying.

It's too bad the AOH can't figure this out (or doesn't care).

Well, that shows how doomed it was from the start. Plenty of communists participated in the 1916 “Rising”, most notoriously James Connolly, a favorite of Lenin.

Lord Diljit Rana, that doesnt sound very English to me... "Being an Indian I should not have had any loyalty to Northern Ireland; I stayed there despite the problem," said Rana.
Perhaps he would like to discuss returning Northern Ireland to the Irish (The Republic of Ireland).

On the other hand, perhaps being part of the Commonwealth after joining the Republic of Ireland could soften the Unionist position in the North, if not now, perhaps in a generation.

Protestants are not the majority; Catholics don’t make up quite half, but only because everyone else (Hindus, Muslims, etc.) is considered “Protestant” by those wishing to keep northern Ireland.
The Protestants themselves are as Irish as the Mayflower folk were “Native American”.
