In results that were stunning for several reasons, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was the runaway winner in a "straw poll" of Republican presidential favorites at Pennsylvanias largest-ever gathering of conservatives, the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, on Friday and Saturday.
With the "straw ballots" counted and released on Saturday, Walker was an easy winner with 91 votes, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 58 votes. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was third with 56 votes.
Since the first PLC back in 1989, the group has become the most-attended and most-watched conclave of conservatives in the Keystone State. Fueled by the recent campaigns of conservative Sen. Pat Toomey(R.-Pa.)and by the rise of the "tea party movement" over the past five years, the 2015 PLC attracted a record 700-plus participants...
Walkers showing among this group was particularly impressive in that many PLC participants freely acknowledged to Newsmax that they had never met the governor but admired him tremendously for successfully standing up to organized labor over reform of pensions and healthcare for public employees.
Recalling former Republican Gov. Tom Corbetts defeat last fall at the hands of Democrat Tom Wolf,a Western Pennsylvania public relations woman and conservative activist told Newsmax:"Gov. Corbett missed his Scott Walker opportunity by never pursuing pension and healthcare reform the way they did in Wisconsin. That would have rallied the grass roots in Pennsylvania and possibly saved him."
Lowman Henry, president of the Pennsylvania Leadership Council, agreed. As he told Newsmax after the straw vote, "Gov. Walker has strong appeal to Pennsylvania conservatives, as we are engaged in the same battles against oppression by labor bosses as he faced in Wisconsin. He has proven his willingness to fight, has won major policy victories, and survived the wrath of the radical left. He is a proven leader, and that is winning him a lot of support here.".........

Sounds like your dad was a good man.
I’m sure he played by the rules, and respected others who did as well.
I’ve always been happy to be who and what I am. I like that others are too. I like to see successful Blacks and Hispanics. The color of the skin doesn’t matter, but it does matter what we decide is right or wrong.
Not being able to grasp that illegal immigration is wrong, and those folks should have to go back home, for fifteen years, doesn’t impress me as a man that is gifted with intelligence.
Take care. Thanks for your post.
HTR, you’re desperate. Using God like that isn’t a good thing. I have not lied to you, and yet here you are trying to play the God card.
No, actually it’s not.
I simply cannot trust a man that couldn’t grasp an issue as important as this until a few weeks ago, after it being one of the most imporatnt issues of our time for fifteen years.
His closed door meeting with the Chamber of Commerce should concern anybody
seeking their most conservative candidate. What happened in that room?
How many times have we seen Potomac fever grip politicians even more educated
and intelligent than Walker? Countless..
Do you know what happened in that room? Of course not, for all we know he gave
the chamber the wink/nod over their immigration and other policies, and my
observation of what happened in that room is just as good as yours. Which is?
HTR, this isn’t a matter of forgiveness. It’s a matter of awareness, caring about the nation, and realizing the nation was being harmed.
It didn’t matter to this guy until weeks ago, what had been going on for the last 20 years.
What’s to forgive? His policy was his policy. I disagree with it. He’s changed it now, but not until he wanted to run for president. I just don’t see that as genuine.
It’s a chenge of convenience.
Wow, are we lucky or what?
lol! And all it took for him to realize the problem was a visit to Rick Perry's home state of Tejas.
I liked Walker, but he has turned out to be a big disappointment.
Another pro-manesty loser. Seems she has a soft spot for ILLEGALS.
Until recently he was all for amnesty. At best that makes him a flip-flopper. If being a flip-flopper wasn't ok for John Kerry, why is it ok for Scott Walker?
And that meeting was closed door.
The bottom line about Walker is that he fully supports a path to citizenship
for illegals here, and illegals coming here. That does not secure our country!
This is like telling burglars that if they can get past the front door with
your belongings, they get to keep it and the police will not do anything.
Tough place to be for a relatively cerebral kid trying to determine his position in life
Growing up is a life long experience ... I'm 67 and such a child.
The problem you folks have, is that you dont listen. You simply barrel along full speed ahead.
I dont give a rip what you think of me.

Scott is asked if illegal pay a fine, if they can stay.
Listen to his garbled answer yourself. He says he believes a way can be found to do that.
I have been highly suspicious of the claim he changed his mind. Im glad I was.

Maybe you missed it, Bush also supports Amnesty, he's just more open about it.
Jeb Bush Tells Congress to Approve Obama Amnesty Supporter Loretta Lynch For Attorney General
Spot on! Immigration Reform is easy if all you have to do is build a fence and patrol the border with the National Guard. What you do with the 12 million who have crossed our border is something we pay those in the federal government to figure out. They haven’t figured it out because it is to their self interest to turn them into democrat socialist voters. And, it is to better for some to corrupt the system so that they can hire employees on the cheap.
Bon mot!
Lots of folks here who would rather carp than make actual progress. I occasionally treat them to a quote from Herbert Spencer:
There is a principle which is a bar against all information,
which is proof against all arguments
and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation
If nothing else, it tends to prove the point when they respond with a new rant.
I used to admire you for your well thought out and reasonable posts.
Now I wonder why.
Enlighten us, sage adviser. What are your thoughts on Cruz and his position on H1-B visas?
If Rick Santorum got 56 votes and Ted Cruz got 58 votes, I totally question the validity of Walker getting 91 votes.
CRUZ - ALL THE WAY IN PA!
It's Santorum's backyard.
Well, at least they got past the issues and got straight to you personally.
We all know what that means.
