The next big fight for gay rights will be won by Big Business
The Week ^ | April 20, 2015 | Peter Weber

The rapid expansion of gay rights and LGBT acceptance in the United States is a remarkable story, and one that's still unfolding. If you think you know how it ends, you don't. As federal courts and state and local governments have opened the door to same-sex marriage, for example, state legislatures in Republican-controlled capitals have been responding with measures to limit gay rights, quash same-sex marriage, and take away local control over LGBT anti-discrimination policies.

The "religious freedom" laws in Indiana and Arkansas are the most famous of the recent state measures to curb gay rights. But Indianapolis and Little Rock are hardly alone. In Texas, for example, Republican state legislators have introduced at least 20 anti-LGBT bills in the current session — more than any other state, according to The Texas Observer.

We all know when push comes to shove the GOP will side with Big Business and throw religious freedom under the bus.

Religious freedom... maybe.. but I think it’s more about freedom of association (or non-association).

Big Business doesn’t mind firing up the conservative base on social issues in order to get their crony capitalist candidates elected, but if you mess with the bottom line, then you’ve gone too far.

WT# is SAME SEX MARRIAGE. what does that mean. It’s not a logical phrase. Its like “low calorie cannoli’s” or “non-infectious diseases”
I cant articulate like some of you geniuses on the board can. And I am serious. There are some brilliant people on here. I am not one of them. Can you put better words to my meaning?

....the way it will end is in judgment. We must repent as a nation and ask for mercy. All of us.

Liberals seem to understand that terms like patriarchy relate to fatherhood and male leadership.

However... the term matrimony... from which marriage is dervied relates to motherhood.

The simple biological fact is that matrimony... which means to ‘make a mother’ is impossible for two men, and two women will not get there without help.

A huge contributing factor in confusion on this issue... contraception among heterosexual couples which in many cases renders their acts of marriage as sterile as their homosexual counterparts.

Sorry if that is awful blunt.

We can fight Big Business by taking our Big Business elsewhere. For those who think it can't be done, look at the successes of the Duck Dynasty and Chick-Fil-A folks.

If business wants to segregate the market into pro- and anti-Christian segments, let them. I know where I'll spend my money ...

WT# is SAME SEX MARRIAGE. what does that mean.

What it REALLY means has to do with legally marginalizing the practice of Christianity in this nation and attempting to destroy the Christian church. The strategic step a few years ago to establish "hate speech" laws was part of this. Even speaking in opposition to "same sex marriage" would be interpreted as a crime. One of the next moves likely is to revoke tax exempt status to churches who will not recognized or perform same sex marriages or allow them to be members or church leaders. The real struggle is just beginning. Hopefully, religious rights of Christians can be effectively defended, but it doesn't look too promising right now.

Peter Weber aka PJWeber is one of those bathroom foot tappers as suspected. His Twitter account says much...he’s just using the same old Alinsky trick of repeating the same pro-gay message over and over so people think sodomy is normal...

No, that GREAT. That is an argument built on the original meaning of the word matrimony!!! how would they fight that argument!! Why has no one used it.
Alas, at 37, a month before I was going to propose, I suffered a brain injury. The kids I had planned to have do not exist. I proposed a few yeas later but it was a token gesture as there was no reason to get married as we could not fulfill Gods requirements for the sacrament. We live together and she takes care of me as I try to rebuild my life.
Marriage is AL ABOUT the natural act of creating children and then raising and loving them. What don’t fruits get?

Funny, because Brill Krinton signed similar legislation, as have 26 states.

Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, heart disease

Big business and big government often go hand-in-hand.

Very strange how the interests of the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street seem to converge at times.

You would think that 1 of every 2 persons is gay! Are businesses so afraid of this small population?

Big Business’s support has two explanations:

1. Gay relationships mean two income households with no kids to feed clothe and educate. Hence, you have lots of expendable income for cars, electronics, gadgets, vacations and clothing. They are perhaps the only group flourishing in this country. They are the market.

2. No kids means more time for work and attendant office politics. Naturally, they prefer to work with their own. This means that increasingly these companies are dominated by gays.

All of this is speculation, and I’d appreciate anyone having statistics that either affirm or disprove it. I have none to back this theory.

But if I’m right, then this is sheer demographics at work. In a lousy economy there are no counterbalances.

Well, I want everyone to enjoy the richness and fullness of life that comes from marrying someone of the opposite sex.

If Subaru cares so little about people that they want them to have the empty, shallow lives of homosexuals, then I don’t need to buy products from such an uncaring company.

The business cronies are just joining up with the progressive war on Christianity.

Apparently, they stand to make more money by siding with less than 2% of the population.

Or maybe it has more to to with that most business leaders today have taken a strong dislike to the whole morals/ethics/honesty/integrity thing.

I guess the “profits at all costs” crowd want all of the profits, and are willing to wreck everything in their paths to get them, consequences be damned.

Large businesses are mandating far left wing values as part of their HR policies. Examples I’ve dealt with in the past year:

A man who thinks he is a woman gets to use the bathroom, and women are not allowed to dissent. To do so is homophobic or transphobic, depending on the situation.

A coworker can seek advice on what to do when a spouse decides they are homosexual and want to cheat on the side, but any advice other than “yeah, he’s come out!” or referrals to support groups is unacceptable. Providing information on a divorce attorney or counseling so that he doesn’t cheat aren’t acceptable.

It is acceptable for someone to come out as gay and list on their profile that they left a spouse of ten years and four young children as an act of bravery and acceptance, but no one can publicly sympathize with the abandoned wife, question what an at most nine year old could actually say when the father says he’s gay, the suitability of discussing the dissolution of a marriage with multiple children or value of putting it on a company’s internal home page.
And the fact that he was capable of sexual relations sufficient to make four children before coming out can’t be pointed out as proving he had a choice as to who he had sex with. In short, he could swing both ways - proving even a hardwired sexual attraction to men can be overcome enough to make four kids.

A man’s son announces he is gay, then decides he is actually a girl. You aren’t allowed to suggest counseling to rectify mind with biological fact but are to give the father praise for tolerating his son’s delusions. In contrast, it is acceptable to give recommendations to doctors who will mutilate the kid’s body and support groups for the parents to accept the kid’s progressive mental illness. (Kid came out at 14 or so, after 2 years, now decides he’s really a girl. More likely that he found most other young men don’t want to have sex with him, wants to become a girl to gratify the sexual attraction.)

And all of this is at a defense contractor.
The government gives preference in contracts to companies that have LBGTA “friendly” policies built into their HR rules. All four - Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon and Northrup Grumman - now meet most or all of the “Out and Equal Index” points, so that they can get government contracts. If your jets or tanks are about as good, how good the gays think you are to their cause determines who gets the contracts, so the companies toe the line to get the business.
