My wink was intended for the reader to know I was teasing/joking/being jovial. I’ve never known a wink to signify sarcasm, and I don’t see how my words could be misconstrued as flirting.

Oh, kinda like a meaningless overused "I'm LOLing" emoticon.

Thanks. Several folks are helping me out on this thread today by explaining what is obvious to me and everyone else.

(I think you were flirting with someone; thou protesteth too muchly.)

My husband would be very dismayed to find out that a complete stranger is convinced that I’m flirting with another complete stranger by using a winking emoticon in a reply.

So that there is no further misunderstanding, the above sentence in sarcasm. Though, in my opinion, having to state such takes away from “casm” portion of the statement.
