Bill Nye was heavily skewered online Tuesday evening after revealing his plans for an Earth Day event.

The popular science educator tweeted that he plans to “catch an #EarthDay flight on Air Force One” Wednesday with President Barack Obama.

“We’re going to #ActOnClimate,” he added.

Individuals were quick to criticize Nye for flying on a 747 in an effort to save the Earth and rescue the environment.

every OUNCE aboard an aircraft affects its total fuel use, just like in your car. Granted, you cannot tell the difference in the car over the distances you travel, but the lengths of your trips are insignificant to what AF1 travels.

Fuel costs alone are more for the pres__ent’s last golfing trip than what you and I combined pay for our annual fuel bill.

I doubt they bumped anyone else so he could ride. So I doubt there was any difference in total fuel used by all involved.

Applying "science guy" (hee) math; moving a 975,180 lb aircraft requires slightly more energy than moving a 975,000 lb aircraft. Of course the larger issue is the hypocracy.
