When Cayla Vondal and Shi Laughlin began dating four months ago, the two juniors weren't sure if they would be able to walk down the Central High School Prom Grand March together as a same-sex couple.
Vondal—who is a lesbian—and Laughlin—who is bi-sexual and identifies with the gender neutral pronoun "they"—have been friends since the first day of first grade.
Neither of them had heard of a same-sex couple walking down the grand march, but when Vondal approached school administration, she was told there was no reason they couldn't.

Proud? Proud of what? Direct disobedience to God? This they are proud of? I suppose the school is proud of them too? If so, it says a lot about our current ‘education system’ now doesn’t it?

"They" is gender-neutral, but it's also PLURAL, you moron. OTOH, "they" is kind of appropriate for a schizophrenic.
Spoke too soon. “They” is certainly an appropriate pronoun, for either one of these behemoths.
About the only positive observation I can make is that it is fortunate that four X chromosomes are involved, not two.

It gets very confusing. I had to think a minute when I read “their sister, Kayla”, rather than “her sister, Kayla”. I can’t believe the press is going along with all of this nonsense when writing this stuff up.
I am guessing she wants to be a “they” because she’s both male and female? Plural pronoun for plural “identities”? I don’t know. I give up. I’m just glad I’ve more years behind me than ahead. Maranatha.
