True story from spring 2009:
I'm walking along the west boundary of the WH complex when security shuts down all traffic, pedestrian and vehicle.
After about 10 minutes, a convoy of armored Suburbans comes out of the driveway with SlowJoe waving to the adoring masses.
A guy in a thousand dollar suit turns to me and says "if Joe didn't have a chauffeur, he'd get lost on the way home for lunch"
