Round in the Chamber?

My response was, “Always carry one in the chamber, not having one in does not compute with me.” My reason for saying this is easy, that is how I train. SFC Scarborough responded by stating that he does not feel safe with a round in the chamber, but that is how he trains. Now my thoughts are really trying to make sense of this, but then again, training prepares you for a serious encounter… right?

Regal has already admitted that he just lives his life carefully, so that he doesn’t get exposed to what he perceives are threats to his safety, he lives a life of fear in the hopes of avoiding ever needing a tool that he fears.

There’s nothing wrong with living your life carefully, so as to avoid risky situations and troublesome people.

Nothing shameful or disgraceful or unmanly.

Is it a Glock? Don’t carry one in a chamber.

Most police departments use Glocks and they all carry their Glock with one in the pipe. I have a Glock 23 and I always carry with one in the chamber. I always carry with one in the chamber, regardless of which pistol I'm carrying. Otherwise, I'm just carrying a couple of pounds of deadweight metal. When it comes to semi autos, it's more about the holster than it is about the weapon.

That is a matter of opinion, but it takes all types, but most of those types don't get on a gun thread to troll it like this guy did.

No need to carry a firearm.

Most assailants use speed and surprise to win. You will not have time to chamber a round.

The weapon you're carrying should be your last line of defense, not your first line. Too many people fail the recognize the need to be always on the alert. Stay out of the bad parts of town. Maintain situational awareness. Check your surroundings when exiting a building. If you think you're being followed, cross the street. In a parking lot, walk down the center of a lane. On a sidewalk, walk closer to the curb, but watch for suspicious vehicles, especially vans and vehicles with heavily tinted windows. There's so much more, but just be aware of your surroundings.

I think Regal may really be Obama. He probably enjoys getting on here and posting nonsense just to screw up the board.

He says he fears nothing. He probably should fear God.

I’m wondering why he bothered enough to respond to what is obviously a question specifically addressed to CCW folks. Just to say he doesn’t carry? Motivated by some agenda, perhaps? Color me cynical, but I think there is definitely some condescension going on here.

A friend of mine who used to be a handgun instructor in the IDF racks the 1911 one-handed off his belt. Pretty neat and pretty fast. But I always carry mine chambered. 14 years ago I hydroplaned in the oncoming traffic. My Springfield was on the passenger seat chambered and my car got hit in the right B pillar. I was pretty broken up and survived only by the grace of God, gun was fine, no firing.

You are a liar. You have no honor, and your arguments are so weak you must resort to making up lies. Prayers that your family can overcome the shame that they feel in being related to you.

Brains keep you safer thatn any gun will.

Brains allow you perceive the threat. A firearm allows you neutralize the threat when the brain tells you there is no other option that keeps you safe and alive.

My house guns have empty chambers, but I have 7 kids, some little. I’m willing to run the risk of delay chambering a round to buy a little extra safety (and yes, they’ve all been trained, but kids are what they are).

I carry a revolver.

That is quite the eloquent post from the 52 year old superman nooby who is attending law school, and who is so effectively cowardly, that he doesn’t anticipate ever needing a gun.

Oh, yeah, I’ve seen those guys do amazing things. I have a hunch if I tried it I’d end up bitch-slapping my assailant with an empty and bleeding hand. That’ll larn ‘em. ;-)

He has only been here about 4 months. He wants to troll, he is loving all this attention.

No longer interested in lowering myself to your level. However, from your posts, I hope that you are wise enough to not spend all of your money on guns and hold a little back to keep youself well supplied in Midol. You seem a little bit irritable.
