Baltimore Destroyed: Rioters Burn Buildings, Injure Police, Attack Reporters and Loot Local Stores

After a week of protests and the funeral of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who recently died in police custody of serious injuries, rioters took to the streets of Baltimore late Monday afternoon and rampaged through the city until the early hours of the morning burning buildings, cars, looting local stores, attacking police and reporters. Fifteen police officers were injured and the hoses being use by firefighters to put out an inferno at a CVS were cut.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made several statements last night and announced a curfew...that starts tonight. Governor Larry Hogan called in the National Guard to restore order, but mostly rioters went home without arrests and the police commissioner is admitting cops were overwhelmed and overrun.

"Yes, we planned for it. That wasn't the issue," Batts told reporters late Monday. "We just had too many people out there [for us] to overcome the numbers we had." The commissioner added that the rioters had pulled his officers to "opposite ends of the city" and had "outnumbered us and outflanked us."

"These acts of violence and destruction of property cannot and will not be tolerated," Hogan said at a late-night press conference. The governor also said he was deploying 500 state troopers and had asked for 5,000 officers from neighboring states to deal with the violence.

What happened in Baltimore is being called a race riot, despite the fact that the majority of the police officers and government officials working in the city are African-American.

Yesterday, Baltimore Police released a memo about violent gangs the Crips, Bloods and Black Guerrilla family joining forces to kill cops.

Local residents and business owners are describing the situation as "heartbreaking" and are cleaning up their community this morning.

Newly minted Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who was sworn in last Friday, has sent DOJ officials to Baltimore to investigate.

Only one third of black men in America have been in prison.

Lincoln just accelerated the inevitable. No western nation has slavery today, nor would the US - with or without Lincoln. There was already a large abolitionist movement before he was elected. (BTW, I have some serious problems with Lincoln, but emancipation isn’t one of them).

I think Lyndon Johnson may deserve more blame for today’s mess.

I recently bought automotive stuff on Amazon, the same brand as Wal-Mart and paid half of Wal-Mart’s price. I now search every purchase online first.

Same here. The nearest WM is 30 miles from me, along with all "large stores".

With amazon prime, I pay less for most things and they are delivered to my door, NO SHIPPING.

Can't beat that.

I see shoot to kill happening.

In a sane world it would have been in place for most of the recent riots. I have trouble seeing Obama and company sitting on the sidelines if it does occur - there is way to much for them to leverage with the MSM and every Leftist group in the world howling for him to "quell the evil ones defending themselves and others". I would guess we would get a taste of martial lawless stepping on decent citizens and it would be used as a training session for future "necessities".

If it occurs, it will definitely be interesting - especially for the poor folks caught in the middle and those who are of a mind that now is the time to send the government a concrete message. I'm safe in S. MS (whodathunkit) and can view from my living room.

On the bright side, it would certainly allow Cruz to do some more shining....I would gladly follow such as he into battle.

A fair amount of willys and cj7 stuff for me has come from amazon.

The most important part was a reducing barb to convert the last bit of fuel line from 3/8 to 1/4. Not on the shelf of any parts or hardware place in my area. The reverse was no problem.

5 bucks and two days, back in business. After that debacle, I found my thermostat housing has a pair of hairline cracks. Waiting on it to show.

keep it in the cities, don’t come out into the countryside, it is safer for you in the cities

Mathematically, this is an application of the inverse square law. They may be concentrated in the cities, but as they move out, they dilute their power by the inverse square of their distance from the city.

You forget one very important fact, rural areas are well armed, there is little to no police and when the police do respond it is one or two cars after a 30 or more minute wait.

No, they will not spread beyond the suburbs of the cities, if that far.

Look, riots in Portland, Maine might spread as far as Windham, ME, but once outside of Windham, the price for trying to burn private property is to becomme part of the environment.

Why should the Oathkeepers become involved? This is what the police are paid to do. The mayor ordered them to protect the rioters. The mayor was elected by the people. Therefore, it goes back to the people getting what they voted for.

Very important fact about the “density” of the police,
considering where we’re headed,
with the police siding with the rioters/looters against the property owners.

The looters won’t have as much “cover” in the countryside.

Ah, yes, the environmental scientist's axiom:

The solution to pollution is dilution.
