Insurance companies that pay out for medical bills/missed time at work, etc due to an accident will SUE the person who received the payout to prevent “double dipping”. Could be why he was the “defendant”. Someone trying to get paid medical monies returned.

More likely that Peachtree filed a petition for court approval of their buyout of a structured settlement previously entered into by Allstate and Freddie Gray. Mr. Gray is named as a nominal defendant, only. Likely they paid Gray a lump sum and are subrogated to the structured settlement.

You could be right, but nobody knows right now. It’s speculation and jumping to conclusions, just like the Trayvons do.

Being that it’s Allstate Life Insurance I’m not thinking its medical bills.
