Same as in Detroit. The last republican elected in that city was 1964. I tried to point this out to a couple of my UAW coworkers recently only to be told it was the fault of the greedy rich CEOs of the auto industry that killed prosperity there. There is no fixing stupid.
Same as Chicago. The last Republican mayor, Big Bill Thompson, unfortunately as corrupt as they can get, left office in 1931....84 years of Democrat rule. The city is incredibly corrupt, insolvent, and crime ridden. Democrats, the wrecking crew, all the way. Tragic.
