Church folk beseech God about same-sex marriage, but the message varies
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | April 29, 2015 | Allan Turner

Millions of Americans Tuesday beseeched God to influence the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which Tuesday heard oral arguments on the legality of same-sex weddings. But, a survey by the Public Religion Research Institute indicates the content of those prayers likely differed dramatically depending on the religious affiliations of the supplicants.

Of all major religious groups, white evangelical Protestants showed the least support for same-sex marriages, with only 28 percent favoring or strongly favoring such unions. Within that group, evangelical Baptists led opposition, with 44 percent reporting they strongly disapproved.

I didn't know that white evangelical Protestants were a religion. Did notice that this survey did not include the opinion held by Muslims. Is that because Muslims are ok with gay marriage or that they kill homosexuals before they can get married?

I’ve believed for decades that most pastors look over their congregation and assume that only a small portion of them actually have a strong understanding of what the bible teaches about sin and salvation

These stats confirm it.

There are a lot of “church folk” that are there just to hedge their bets about the afterlife. i.e. they are not saved.

Are black evangelicals for gay marriage? How did they get missed?

There are a fair number of pastors who should just sit next to their parishioners. We even know of one who preaches at a small town church who is actually an atheist. The congregation likes him, so they keep him anyway.

They feel safe when it comes to muslims because they believe the muslims are "over there" or on "their side."
They have no idea. The muslims, like the communists, are using the liberals, again, as useful idiots. Once their usefulness is gone - so are they.
(Those who don't know history are bound to repeat it.)

Just tells me that 28% of the white evangelical Protestants they surveyed were not really Christians to begin with.

I left the first church we joined here in KY because after a few months it became clear that I knew more about the content of the bible than, apparently, even the pastor.

They disagreed with me on a few points yet could not argue their position at all. It was like they just kept hearing the same thing all their life and, well, they believed it.

One of my friends here became a pastor of a ~80 member church that eventually fired him because he was truly stirring things up regarding popular beliefs and what the bible actually sez. He told me there were members there in the later years of their life that had been going there reqularly since they were children - and didn’t know the difference between the old and new testaments.

Sad. We currently have a really good pastor. Sometimes his sermons hit awfully close to home! :-)

Our pastor at the church I left was a good guy. He and I even had some similarities. But I didn’t feel I could really get into the word and what it means really with him. I brought up my annihilation vs eternal torment position there and though nobody could remotely argue against me, I was kinda shunned. But it was sort of akin to being shunned at DU.

Our parting gift to the church was to take all their pictures and create a church directory for them. They liked that a lot.

They don't dare mention the opposition by black churches. Other blacks will read or hear about it, follow, and escape the liberal plantation. As long as the blacks are kept uneducated, the liberals are safe to consider them a secure voting block.
ONLY Christians are "bigots", according to the liberals, because this isn't about homo "marriage." It's about defeating Christians, and their God, because we and God stand in the way of everything they believe in and worship. This is the reason for the unprecedented attack on Gods people we're seeing today.

[Liberals , or "progressives" today are anti-Christ, or Antichrist. The rules of political correctness (the doctrine of demons) are the opposite of the 10 Commandments. What we're seeing in the world today is the sheep being separated from the goats, or the wheat being separated from the chaff.]

Has God’s Word on sin been wrong all along and should He change his mind? He appears to have been “corrected” by Hillary and others. Note to God: You may be Lord of Creation, but ya ain’t Hillary!
