If he was injured prior to being put in the van and asked for medical attention he did not get, perhaps when he was in the van, he was banging around like he was to get them to take him seriously.
That is possible, yes.
The injuries I have heard that he had at this time were 4 tears or rips in his spinal cord and a crushed voice box.
I heard that on Megyn Kelly’s show a few nights ago. I don’t have any way of knowing if those are his actual injuries, but I will assume they are for the sake of discussion.
Could a man with such injuries bang himself for his head around in the van? I don’t know.
Also I think I understood that the van driver had to stop and hog tie him at some point, or at least that is what I think I heard.
Exactly. This is a definite possibility (at least as likely, in my opinion, as the "he was throwing himself around and trying to injure himself" theory).
Look at it this way. Suppose he was, in fact, injured before being placed in the van (which would be consistent with the video, where his legs just don't look right), and suppose the officers did, in fact, ignore his requests for medical attention (which is consistent with what the police commissioner has said). In that case, then he would have been laying in the back of the van, in shackles, possibly unable to feel his legs (due to the spinal injury) and/or unable to breathe (due to the larynx injury). If I were in that situation, then heck yeah, I would be desperately banging on the side of the van as hard as I can to get someone's attention, to get myself medical attention, to save my life.
