If they only joined the police force to kill people, they sohuld probably resign anyway.

“Should they just have let him go ?”

Yes, I think that is exactly what they should have done.

I doubt that he was able to ditch drugs while running without the police finding them. It is actually a pretty hard thing to do.

I also doubt that his previous interactions with police were Mayberry style. He probably did not want the hassle, and it looks like he was right. He ended up dead.

One of the biggest problems that black communities have in the inner city, is that a lot of people do not trust the police. To gain trust, the police have to play by the rules. It works where it is tried.

I understand it as slang for a rough ride in the back of a paddy wagon meant to rough up the perps

No doubt dating back 50 or 60 years to when touring carnivals would charge a nickel for their roller coaster rides.

“Whatever happened to the good old days when gangsta’s and cops were buddies ?”

What do you mean? In the really big cities, the gansta’s and cops are buddies. But you have to be a successful enough gansta to afford to be able to “pay to play”.

The really, really, successful gansta’s are high level politicians, like the Clintons.

Given his history, it sounds very plausible. It is also very hard to prove the dealing without the drugs. Drugs in his system do not count.

No, city cops never get to know the career criminals on their beat. I bet Freddy was so unlucky that the only times he ever made the mistake of selling drugs, and every time he encountered police, he was arrested.
