The six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray – who died last month after being injured in police custody – have been charged criminally, State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Friday.

Mosby's announcement on the steps of the War Memorial Building was greeted with cheers and applause. Mosby said she told Gray's family that "no one is above the law and I would pursue justice upon their behalf."

Desmond Taylor, 29, shouted in jubilee in front of the War Memorial Building.

Mosby: Freddie Gray's death a homicide, officers charged Investigation and medical examiner reports say Freddie Gray's death a homicide. Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby will file charges against all 6 officers involved in the arrest. (Baltimore Sun) "I did not expect this, but I prayed for it," he said. "This day means that your actions bring consequences in Baltimore City."

Word traveled quickly of the charges against the officers. In West Baltimore, cars honked their horns. A man hanging out of a truck window pumped his fists and yelled; "Justice! Justice! Justice!"

At the corner where Gray was arrested, 53-year-old Willie Rooks held his hands up in peace signs and screamed, "Justice!"

Reacting to news of the charges, President Barack Obama called it "absolutely vital that the truth come out.

Pasts—that other prisoner is now walking his statements back and says he is afraid of what may happen to him because of an inaccurate report.

.... I dunno guyz ..... To me this really looks like they are going for Murder in the 2nd ... which will be much harder to prove than Manslaughter or Negligent Homicide ....... There is a very reasonable chance that charge will not stick.

.... Me thinks this is the collaborative strategic action by the Corporation of Race Agitators .... not to achieve justice for what has been done .... but rather, as a result of going for the higher charge with a greater chance of acquittal .... for the express purpose to create another manufactured crisis when the officers are acquitted. You know .... creating the illusion and perception .... and thus proving to the inner city folk that the "System" does not work for blacks!

.... however .... In reality ... it will have been a calculated move to almost guarantee an acquittal to create maximum effect to advance the movement along to the next level ......

.... Sharpton and The Justice Bros. will then be back in the drivers seat ... with the exception of this time having the entire force of the United States Government behind them ..... With the ability to crush the nation and create and transform America into their own new exciting vision of a Black Utopia. Baltimore being the prototype for this new nation.

Yes, it’s my opinion. No one has access to all the facts right now.

Plus the requirement for prisoners to be belted in in the Van was sent out by 'e-mail'.

Nope. The requirement for prisoners to be belted in was part of the Baltimore PD General Orders, since at least 1997.

-— Homicide” simply means the death of a person. It doesn’t mean murder or manslaughter. -—

It means murder or manslaughter in Merriam’s and FindLaw.

"... they try to prove who did what.

The first shout of "fire-Fire" in the theater came from Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake when she gave the 'protesters' and area in which they could break the law with impunity. Rawlings Blake inasmuch said...Negros are children, let them have their tantrum.

Will she be held responsible for the damage done for a racist reason? Not unless people demand it. By the way, how many of these 'jobless' are on food stamps and have government assisted housing and free medical?

I suspect the rudeness and malingering around town by these "kids" has something to do with the short fuses of the police.

“What about justice for everyone who lost businesses, cars and other property? Any justice for them?”

Doubt it. If they are smart they will use the insurance money to get the hell out of that area. Why rebuild there?

They don’t stand a chance at getting a fair trial. I just hope that the community of Baltimore loves to live in fear in a city where cops will no longer work.

“’...false imprisonment.’

What’s that all about?”

The arrest was unlawful from the start.

No one has access to all the facts right now

Again not true. The general public like us doesn't know for sure what happened, but at the very least the six officers who were involved know, and I'm guessing that whoever interviewed the officers after the fact probably has a pretty good idea too.

“Pasts—that other prisoner is now walking his statements back and says he is afraid of what may happen to him because of an inaccurate report.”

Apparently he never made the statement that was attributed to him, and had said the police “leak” mis-characterized what he did said.

Yes, the eyewitnesses know what happened and the people who interviewed them probably have a pretty good idea of what happened.

The rest of us don't have all the facts, unless you're one of the police officers.

What a REACH!

Good heavens. WHEN these cops are found NOT GUILTY I predict Baltimore will be burned to the ground.

BTW: jubilee is considered a “racist” term since it refers to a slave period festival.

>> This would be more a case of negligence, not "homicide" <<

I think maybe you meant to say "murder" -- not homicide, because homicide is simply the killing of a human being, whether intentional or unintentional, and whether justified or unjustified.

i believe the law in that town due to its drug culture can allow the police to apprehend someone that looks at them, freaks out and runs....it a drugie thing.
Now this dead AH may have been wanting just that and got more than his sorry black a$$ bargained for.
Sorry the cops are in a mess but not sorry for the prisoner. If he was a “goot boy”, he would not have been in the van.
