Freddie Gray's Stepfather: Family Satisfied With Charges Against 6 Officers
NBC ^ | 5/1

Posted on 05/01/2015 2:39:27 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The stepfather of Freddie Gray said the family is satisfied with prosecutors charging six police officers involved in Gray's arrest. "These charges are an important step in getting justice for Freddie," Richard Shipley said, speaking on behalf of the Gray family.

Prosecutors said Gray died after suffering a critical spine injury in the back of a police wagon.

Shipley also called for peace in Baltimore, saying the last thing that Freddie would want is to see people of Baltimore lose their jobs and businesses because of his death.

"We ask that whomever come to our city, a city that we love, a city that we live in, come in peace," Shipley said.

An attorney for the Gray family said at the news conference that people must be mindful that the charges are a first step, not the last.

State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby says Gray's death was a homicide, his arrest was illegal and his treatment amounted to murder and manslaughter.

An attorney speaking on behalf of the officers said the charges are a rush to judgment.

“Murder” is an awfully strong word for allegedly not fastening his seat belt so that he could thrash himself to death. And his asthma seems to have nothing to do with his death.

Doesn’t New York, like most states, have varying degrees of homicide, depending on the culpable mental state of the actor?

This is a bone to appease the mob. Wait until they are acquitted then it will be Rodney King all over again.

The cops need to stage a walkout. Let the liberal idiots like the mayor police the city by themselves.

Well, as long as they’re satisfied.

Leftist "justice" = conviction.

We'll wait to see if real justice is done, which means acceptance of the decision of the jury, whether guilty or innocent.

It occurred to me that this is probably what the administration wants - hello "federal police force" aka state police.

Its a lose lose for them and us, I'm afraid.

1. How does he know if Freddie Gray cared about jobs and businesses...Gray didn’t even have a job himself..but well yes I guess he was a business man..

2. If that were true then the thugs who destroyed businesses and caused people to lose their jobs were not honoring and memorializing dear Freddie and after all wasn’t that the whole reason to so call “protest” to start with ???

Just got done reading Sean Hannity’s terrific interview with Freddie’s bail bondsman. He sounds like a guy with integrity. He addressed the seat belt issue here:

REID: I can. Well, the community may not accept it, Hannity, because the community know one thing. They say Freddie wasn’t put in his seat belt.

HANNITY: Yes.

REID: The police never use seat belts in the paddy wagon, never.

HANNITY: Yes.

REID: And by the commissioner, the mayor, and the union chiefs didn’t know that?

HANNITY: Yes.

REID: Something should be done, because rank and file know it. They’re not going to get in your personal space and tuck you in like a baby.

And you KNOW that if they’d HAD some sort of restraint system in place, there would have been lawsuits and protests that that was “inhuman.” There’s just no sense in even dealing with these people.

Regardless, the Freddie Gray was a law-abiding citizen he’d still be alive. Same goes for the Gentle Giant.

The whole thing resembles primitive tribes who consult a witch doctor about a wealthy neighboring farmer who cast a spell on his chickens. So the which doctor arranges the murder of the offending individual and hands chunks of his flesh to the family that was the target of the spell.

"There’s just no sense in even dealing with these people."

Unfortunately, they have been empowered in their minds beyond what is normal by King Øbama. I am afraid for the future when their "star status" is brought back to reality and they are dealt with just like the rest of us.

Was Mr. Gray in the Baltimore Chamber of Commerce? It seems that he had a business there.

Freddie was an innocent child who sang in the choir at church every Sunday.

They will not be able to make murder stick. Now a civil suit, that’s a different matter.
