Friend of Charged Baltimore Officers: ‘They Have Hearts of Gold’
Fox News Insider ^ | May 01, 2015 10:30 pm

Megyn Kelly spoke tonight with a Baltimore police officer who works with all six officers who were criminally charged in the death of Freddie Gray. In an effort to keep him safe, his identity was disguised and voice was masked during The Kelly File interview. At his request, he wanted to be called “Mike.” […]

“None of them actually had any knowledge he was injured until they got to the station,” Mike stated. ”You know, Freddie is always one of those types where when you go to arrest him on the streets, he always puts on a show and whatnot.” […]

Mike remarked that the officers are a “great group” and that “they have hearts of gold.” …

I'm not really sure what is damning about the length of time spent in transport, and just because dude says it was a "nickel ride" doesn't mean dude is right. Where's his proof?

Anyway, here's the route.

How do you KNOW they took him on a “nickel ride”?

Prove it.

List your proof, or shut up.

I think these people are stepping up because the Mayor and City council are showing they're opposed to them before there was even and indictment. They're tired of the press and all the talk about the accusations, I would be too, so some of these officers are stepping out, at risk of their own jobs I might add, to speak on behalf of the police...and even more to share what they know about the event.

Freddie Grey set himself up long before this incident....many times over. And he ran ....yet again.

Do you have a problem with facts? Yes, these cops deserve their day in court, but don't lump them in with good cops. Consider what the police department has already admitted: (1) they did not have cause to stop Gray, (2) did not have cause to arrest him, (3) that the knife was not illegal, (4) that he was alive and uninjured when put in the van, (5) that they did not secure him in the van, (6) that the took 45 minutes for a 4-5 block ride to jail, (7) that he came out injured, (8) that they failed to get him timely treatment, and (9) that he subsequently died. To say that one or all of these cops caused his death is fair statement. Now the court will decide if it was intentional, accidental, or something else. That the FOP says they did nothing wrong flies in the face of what the police department has already admitted to. What of the above do you find incorrect?

Bad cops need to be singled out, to separate them from good cops. My dad was a cop and most of our family friends growing up were cops. The knee-jerk response to defend cops is wrong and soils the reputation of good cops. To lay insult upon people for saying this is rude.

Finally, as you bring the moderator in to try and get me kicked off FreeRepublic, consider that I have not intentionally be disrespectful to anyone, I don't throw around insults. My conservative views might differ from yours but that does not mean they are not conservative. Is it a requirement here on FreeRepublic that everyone share exactly the same view on all topics?!

Just because the prosecutor said it was an illegal arrest does not make it so.....she also said his knife was not illegal, but under Baltimore law it is. So she’s spoken half truths and measures from the start.

They locked him up because he was dealing drugs, I believe that will be revealed along the way. It was his customary place he did his drug business. They were handling not only a fleeing individual, but a Heroin Addict as well.

I think this needs to go through the system, but i also think no matter what truth comes out the community and the Mayor and Officials have already determined the officers are guilty...and so has the mob. Just as they did in Ferguson.

The police department did ‘not’ admit what you stated.....the prosecutor stated these things and has already been shown to be in error.

Look at first stop, where they put Gray in shackles, and the jail. Instead of taking him to jail, they took him on a "nickel tour", not until the 4th stop picking up a second prisoner.

The state attorney making those claims does not equate to the police admitting to it. Try again.

“They didn’t have legal cause to arrest him. The police have already admitted that”

When did they say that? Do you have a link?

” Even the knife they found on him, AFTER they arrested him, turned out to be perfectly legal. The police have already admitted that”

Do you have the link where the police said it was legal?

“They took him on a 45 minute “nickel ride” when the jail was just four blocks away.”

Geez, where are you getting your information?

How dare you say I hate cops because I think bad cops should be tried and jailed or executed. You and others are so eager to support cops right or wrong, that it is pathetic.

What's pathetic is assuming the cops did anything wrong other than failing to buckle a crazed drug dealer's seat belt. That's the only thing there is evidence they did wrong.

Apparently, you don't believe in the concept of innocent until proven guilty when it comes to police officers. That means you do have a bug up your ass in regard to police officers in general.

How do you know that the driver was driving in a reckless manner with the intent of hurting Gray?

That is what a nickel ride is. How do you know that is what the driver was doing?

I don’t know where he’s getting his information from either...apart from the prosecutor. And we know she was already off base with her facts not being so.

I do think this whole thing, because it has so much political junk woven thru it, is going to get so confusing and that important details are going to get lost in the shuffle....and they matter.

Nearly all of your points are still up to conjecture and NOTHING has been proven -- or even presented as evidence -- in a court of law. Do you have the slightest clue how the criminal justice system works? You've already referred to the suspects as "murderous cops" after a couple of days of speculative news stories. That's quite enough to know where you're coming from. We think a little deeper than that around here.

You still think Michael Brown was yelling, "Hands up! Don't shoot!"?

I was listening to Dershowitz being interviewed on Newsmax and he said there is no way they will get a murder conviction. If they did it would be overturned on appeal. He doesn’t think there will be any convictions.

......” He doesn’t think there will be any convictions”....

Many others are saying likewise. But we know these officers careers in Baltimore are over just the same. And all for this looser thug!

What’s troubling is we have now seen these protests destroy buildings, homes and lives in order for the black community to remain front and center. So this is Obama’s tactic....to get the revenues flowing and political clout where it’s set at any time to go at it again.

This and hauling in Muslims, Mexicans and all these refugees from every third world nation.......their numbers will increase enormously....the face of our country lost...and thus the country itself as we’ve known it to be.
