Notable ones around here leaving empty store fronts behind: Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Sears, Radio Shack, Office Depot, Barnes & Noble, Chicos, Bass Shoes, Borders, Hallmark Stores, a LOT of restaurants. Most McDonalds also look like they have one foot in the grave as well.

The one store expanding is Ross Dress for Less, which I call the Ross Ghetto Store.

Hallmark stores are closing, like you said. KFCs are becoming extinct. Why so many remain open is a question mark to me since delis at local grocery stores sell friend and baked chicken at half the price. The Ross (Dress for Less) stores in this area are tacky with shopping carts that have poles on them so they can tell where the shoppers are located. I shop at our local TJ Maxx, always clean, organized and always find bargains there.

Dillard’s as well. When Dillard’s leaves a mall..it’ all over but the shoutin’.

btw, Ross used to be great back in the 90’s. Packed to the gills with great off price clothes, housewares, shoes, etc. Now it’s cheap, skanky merchandise. I use to hit Ross once a week and even bought prom dresses there for my daughter that were stunning. Shelves and racks are practically empty now. sigh..
