The economic safety net should be done through churches, not government.

The economic safety net should be done through churches, not government.

But sadly they're holding out their hands, like other groups that take money from the government (churches, food outlets, schools, etc), and it opens the door for government to set the rules.

BIG government uses money like a drug - get you hooked, then feeds the addiction.

There was a time, mostly in the 19th century, that churches and other private charities carried the freight. Only during the "progressive era" of the early 20th century did the left wingers of the time decide that the government should control charity and take the money needed from the taxpayers.

The shift included abandoning the concept of helping the "worthy" poor and adopting the idea of welfare for everybody, regardless. This was a lethal error we still live with today.

The economic safety net

Indeed, it is a net, not a hammock. Many cannot/will not make the distinction.
