I did remember she didn’t quite get the massive amount awarded to her at trial. I do think though she should not have been holding a cup of coffee between her knees. But having worked for attorneys, I know terminally stupid people who were paid far more for even dumber things. It’s unfortunate, but this is why so many products have these ridiculous warning labels such as the coffee cup marked with the words CAUTION — HOT. Of course, the coffee is hot. But because some moron spilled coffee and was awarded a large sum of money, companies have to state what should be so obvious on their packaging.

Fact. She did something stupid.

Fact. Someone else had to pay for her doing a stupid thing to herself.

Fast. Since then coffee has been served at a temperature that could be best described as "tepid".

Thank you for posting the truth about that McDonald’s case. She was severely hurt—I had no idea. That part really got lost in the reporting of the story.
