(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained (records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force) revealing that Michelle Obama’s weekend trip to Aspen, Colorado, in February cost American taxpayers $57,068.80 in travel expenses alone for the 7.4-hour round-trip flight. While ( President Obama flew) to California to play golf, speak at a cyber-security summit, and headline a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, the First Lady and her daughters spent Valentine’s Day weekend skiing in Aspen, returning to the White House on February 16.
Judicial Watch obtained the Air Force records in response to a February 18, 2015, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking the following:
Any and all records concerning mission taskings relevant to First Lady Michelle Obama’s trip to Aspen, Colorado.
Any and all records concerning transportation costs.
Any and all passenger manifests for the trip.
Barack and Michelle Obama and other members of their family have traveled more during his presidency than any other first couple, including extensive and costly trips to Spain, Africa, South America, and China, accompanied by staff and often by friends.
Including the Aspen trip, government records indicate that the beyond-first-class travel of the Obamas and Vice President Joe Biden have cost the American people well over $56 million.

When they leave the WH, they're basically homeless.
They do not have a home and live at the expense of American taxpayers.
I hope they buy a home of THEIR OWN some day so they won't always be hitting us up for their globetrotting.
He will be bought a home - probably the sea-front mansion in Hawaii recently used by Hawaii Five O TV show.
Is there something written in the Presidential compensation package that says taxpayers have to pay of limitless family vacations? The rest of us have to fund our own vacations.

Actually, I don’t think a price can be put on what these Gifters have truly COST America!
Congress allots FLOTUS a certain amount to pay for her staff etc. but no where does it include vacations for family and entourage. Call your reps and senators!!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!
And now he wants her to have a salary for being FLOTUS

H*ll, I haven't had a vacation in ... I don't know how many years !
Not to mention the lodging and meals for the advance staff, security, hairdressers, girlfriends and grandma....
. . . and what about that carbon footprint with all those vacations. Yes, global climate change is the most dangerous threat to our world. Yep!
What about the $ value of time the private public jet sat on the tarmac?
A Boeing 757 and I guess at least one C17 for vehicles which Judicial Watch likely did not ask about. Must have cost a couple of dollars.
