I’m one who generally sides with reprisals.

By this I mean, if I’m on a jury trying a guy for assault because he punched out another guy because the other guy said, “f*** your mother”, I’m voting “not guilty”. If Andreas Serrano got a beatdown for the crucifix in urine “artwork”, I’d be voting “not guilty” as well, as long as he wasn’t dead or crippled as a result.

Society would be better, and more harmonious, if we refused to criminalize private disputes where the provocative party “got what was coming to him”.

What you think about this “event” depends on whether or not you think muslims, in general, “have it coming to them”. And it depends, a little, on who you think should be delivering the comeuppance.

My preferences are, in general, that all muslims (collectively) should not have their faith abused and that the retaliation for the outrageous acts of jihadis should be delivered by the USMC rather than Pamela Geller.

Their “faith” is a totalitarian political system with built-in war plan that uses religion as a beard and a means of social control.

Aren't the Armed Forces currently hamstrung, so they can't deliver the beatdown you are so fond of?

You know, the woman who got raped because she wore a short, tight skirt was probably asking for it also.

Same with the black or white guy who just happened to be strolling in the wrong neighborhood.

Or how about the black guy that whistles at a good-looking white woman, he probably deserved whatever happens to him.

Are you a Christian? If so, can you point in the Bible to me where Jesus said if anyone takes the Lord God's name in vain, than that person must be put to death?

“Society would be better, and more harmonious, if we refused to criminalize private disputes where the provocative party “got what was coming to him”.”

That’s Sharia law and totally hypocritical to this,

“What you think about this “event” depends on whether or not you think muslims, in general, “have it coming to them”.”

They do. Do you accept gay marriage too? Do you think islam is a moral and legitimate
religion of peace? Do you think that the Obama is just
misguided? Do you think that the Bill of Rights is just a
guideline and freedom of religion trumps freedom of speech?

There is no muslim uprising in this country that is against
radical islam. Nothing. However there are plenty of people
that are in support of and sympathetic to it.

retaliation for the outrageous acts of jihadis should be delivered by the USMC rather than Pamela Geller...

Pamela Geller's actions were the "fuse", the "bomb" was delivered by the superb shooting of a Texas traffic cop who delivered two head shots with his pistol.

The left considers her actions to be "incendiary" which is an overstatement as most sane people would consider them mildly amusing. We cannot expect to model our lives so as to avoid offending anyone we meet. If that were the standard we would have to mince our way through life as timid as a titmouse and live like a Canadian, Eh?

I totally agree with your tag line. It also illustrates one of my "pet peeves" which is the the lefty's corruption of perfectly good words, twisting their original meaning to suite their agenda.

There was a time when "being a man of discriminating tastes" was considered to be a high complement. The implication being one possessed a sophisticated appreciation for the finer things in life (friends, food, wine, music, literature, &C). Today's usage paints one as a bigoted, racist, narrow minded, misogynistic pig.

We can thank the lefty's twisting of meaning for the loss.

GtG

"My preferences are, in general, that all muslims (collectively) should not have their faith abused"

A philosophy that believes violence is an acceptable response to criticism is not a "faith."

Islam is a savage, blood-soaked, demon-possessed, pedophile-ridden, backward 7th-century murder cult. Personally I believe events such as Geller's should be commonplace; that way more of them can be smoked out and eliminated when their animalistic urges for blood kick in.

Can you explain for the Court, please, the nature of the 'abuse?'

“muslims (collectively) should not have their faith abused”

Why? Its as fictional as the flying spaghetti monster. And it causes untold misery everywhere it is found. It is a prison without bars.
If a coworker came in talking about how the fairies in their garden told them how to live, you’d openly laugh at them.
Ridicule the hell out islam it I say.

My viewpoint is that Islam (as a whole) provoked Pamela Geller.

When my mother became a US citizen she was asked if she would forgo any and all allegiance to a foreign power. She became a US citizen by her oath. I believe that any Muslim that is bound by the Koran gives allegiance to a foreign authority/power beyond just spiritual but to ‘rules’ of governance as stipulated in the Koran and defined by others. As such I don’t take dedicated Muslims to have true allegiance to the US. I believe my brother who was killed on Okinawa in WWII and I who served in the Philippines never saw a Muslim fighting for the US. Indeed it is my memory that Muslims actually fought against the US. Only after WWII with increasing US prosperity did the Muslim culture and people come into the US like the proverbial camel.

Someone here gets it. Thanks.

Piss Christ, Book of Mormon, and this draw Mohammed contest are all legal and protected by law.

All are mean spirited mocking against someone’s religion. If this contest is so great, I hope you liked Piss Christ and Nazi cartoons of Jews. I don’t. Those things are all against my religion. They are all protected by freedom of speech but all are morally evil.

Americans need to know the hair trigger murderous tendencies of the Muslims in this society. Serrano did not get a beat down because despite all the screaming over “tax payer funding by the Humanities wing of the National Endowment of Arts...we grumblingly recognized free speech. A free speech event did draw out a murderous pair of thugs who were not interested in recognizing our Constitutional principles, they just wanted to push Shariah on us. So what! Even if the event wasn’t held, some other trumped up insult will occur and the shooting will commence! ISIS says that they have other trained operatives in this country. Good now we have confirmation of it that gets the Obama junta off the track of “right wingers being the most dangerous groups in America”!

We do have reason to fear, never mind the so called provocation argument. We have intemperate people in this nation with an intemperate ideology willing to kill over a ‘picture”! Your “reprisal” arguement sounds a little on the “sniveling” side. A beat down is one thing...murder is something else and these guys wanted to kill.
