... the legislative intent of the law is clear, that all exchanges should receive subsidies

The law is clear and unambiguous that only participants in state exchanges qualify. The legislative intent of the law is clear and unambiguous that only participants in state exchanges qualify.

As much as I can’t stand Karl Rove, I do think his Mohammed cartoon should have won the prize at Geller’s event. I’ve never seen such a hilarious cartoon of Mohammed as the one submitted by Karl Rove. The cartoon that Karl Rove drew of Mohammed really made Mohammed look absolutely ridiculous and absurd. Hopefully Karl Rove will be around a long time to draw many more Mohammed cartoons as it seems he truly has a knack for it.

I agree that Rove’s Mohammad cartoon ridiculing the Prophet should have won the contest. Also, Karl Rove can keep folks rolling on the floor with his never-ending series of Muhammad pedophile and Muhammad man-boy love jokes.

““and Republicans have to face endless news stories about the bad things that happen to Americans if ObamaCare is overturned or repealed”

But, for better or worse it’s the status quo now. So, assuming it is repealed, what ever problems exist after that will be the fault of the GOP. Today the problems are the Dems, and they have been punished by voters for it.

Also it’s logistically not possible to just magically “go back”. For instance companies have changed systems and plans to support the entire staff being less than 30 hour workers. They are unlikely to undo that just because insurance laws change. Rates have changed, plans have changed. Insurers would be under no obligation to go back to the old rates, or plans.

The truth is Obama care probably can be replaced or modified, but not just repealed.

Karl Rove is just another name for Saul Alinsky and he is nothing more than an Obama worshipper.

I suggested that the new book by Peter Schweizer proves absolutely nothing on the matter of whether Hillary Clinton committed any wrongdoing, and it is a con to suggest or imply otherwise.

I'm getting really tired of this deflection.

It doesn't matter whether Schweizer "proved" anything. There's enough in the book for any honest federal prosecutor to start an investigation.

Aside from that, the Clinton's should have known better. But, they have a long history of this kind of behavior, and they always get caught -- then skate because no one will hold them accountable.

Anyone else would have hounded out of office, and consigned to the dustbin of history -- along with everyone that defended them.

I'm fine with replacement or modification, as long as the worst of it is eliminated:

  1. No employer mandates.
  2. No individual mandates.
  3. No coverage mandates.

There won't be much after that. The exchanges are a good idea, but horribly executed. Providing one-stop shopping makes it a lot easier for people to compare and contrast policies.

One thing that would really help: allowing health insurance companies to operate, nation-wide. Right now, there isn't much competition in some states.

Rove is nothing more than a weak person who gained power by back stabbing those who do good. he is a turd that needed to be flushed long ago

If the repeal comes with a Commerce Clause attack on the reasons for high medical costs, then it won’t be a disaster. The market will cure high healthcare costs.

I can't deny that many of your proposals might help, but that's more on your list than just the repeal of Obamacare.

(I don't believe the majority of physicians go into private practice any more -- they are often employed by hospitals (Link). We seem to have #4 already, albeit not in a way that might deliver a better product at a lower price.)

Prior to the passage of Obamacare, the US spent nearly twice as high a proportion of GDP as any developed country but we ranked 49th in life expectancy at birth in 2010 (ref: CIA World Factbook). I've concluded that Obamacare accomplished something that I thought was almost impossible -- to make a dysfunctional and wasteful health care system even worse.

I'd argue that the basic problem is that the incentives are there to produce more health care products and services without bounds but there are fewer systemic incentives to produce more health. Many of today's common medical procedures can't be shown to produce any increase in life expectancy, and some might even have a negative effect. IMO, this dysfunction stems from the very roots of the practice of paying for health care in the US as an employment benefit and that goes back more than 70 years to WW2. (It's taken 70 years to create this mess. I doubt it can be fixed in my lifetime.)

Not that there haven't been many beneficiaries of Obamacare. Have you been following the stock prices of hospital companies, drug companies, insurance companies and medical device manufacturers since Obamacare? Unfortunately, the consumers and taxpayers are not among Obamacare's beneficiaries.

Yes, the piece is agitation propaganda (agit prop).

People who allow themselves to be riled up by it are acting with the author’s desired intent.

Karl Rove is now largely a MEDIA figure, much like that old Republican senator Alan Simpson....Wyoming. Used to be half way decent conservative but then after he left office became a big time kook.

The post was an attempt to make Rove a target of Islamic murderers....to make them think Rove drew a pic of Mohammed.

Rove did not participate in Geller’s contest.

No surprise there.

The GOP has a Yellow Streak a mile wide running right up the middle of their collective backs.

Damned ball-less cowards.

Yes as opposed to the bad stories of millions of people losing perfectly good and affordable health insurance policies when this piece of sh** was passed.

What the author is really saying is the millions of new Medicaid beneficiaries will be upset.

And you can bet Carl has a wonderful health insurance policy so why would he give a damn anyway.

Rove is a legend in his own mind. The “Architect” is a myth. On his watch we had the 2000 election debacle and if it wasn’t for the “swift boaters” in 2004, Kerry would have been president.

I agree with that.

I’ll say this also, if you can’t beat the likes of Gore and Kerry by a wide margin, you’re a chump.
