So how many families will be disrupted now? Fed’s going to pull out all the kids? Scary.
I know what it is. There was always an advocate of unschool at the home school workshops back when I attended them every year. It is a form of homeschooling and it is not the same thing as not schooling. It is a method of schooling with a bad title.
You state that, “...half the world currently lives...” in one room or tent. It is probably more than half. Do you believe we should live the same way? If so, perhaps you might wish to join DU! They seem to relish changing North America into the third world.
AFA so many preadolescent kids being exposed to internet porn versus their seeing ma and pa getting randy, I prefer the parents take responsibility and dad inform the boys and ma inform the girls, when the time is right, rather than demonstrating it in front of the kids. Knowingly having sex in front of their kids IS a form of pornography and child abuse, not a lot different from their showing internet porn to the kids.
I just can’t place much credibility in what someone posts about another on Facebook. I don’t use Facebook but from what friends who do tell me all kinds of people post the most outrageous accusations to other people’s pages. Many who don’t know the person they’re attacking at all.
Maybe there’s something terrible going on there but I don’t see it in what has been presented.
Now, all of a sudden, it is harmful to children.
I smell an intellectual disconnect.
I don't know what the right decision is, but removing kids from a family should be in a last resort only.
In the 19th century and half of the 20th century young kids in farm households slept in the same bed or the same room with the parents. That doesn’t mean pa is banging ma while they’re in there. That’s just your salacious mind making something of it that you have no evidence of.
If the family is “off the grid”, how did they have a Facebook page?

Well that this has been ongoing with the family since seemingly 2012 does say something. Especially since there are others in their area who have begun speaking up regarding the family.
I do think just the time the authorities have been trying to handle this is revealing in itself. ...and have stayed with the situation for this amount of time ...tells me there’s something going on more than just what’ we’re reading.
Now the kids are in foster care and see how the rest of the world lives it’s going to be rough for them to return to their former sheds etc.
I’m just saying it doesn’t sound like there is any form of assessment to ensure that unschooled students are making academic progress. If the state cannot verify that these parents are providing adequate instruction or even basic levels of literacy and numeracy. nevermind quality educational outcomes, the family should be given the support and accountability they need to step up their efforts.
I agree, there is an intellectual disconnect in this discussion. Even the most strident evolutionist does not claim that humans have existed for millions of year! They claim modern humans are only in existence for 200,000 years.
If you are a Bible believer, that is reduced to less than 7,000 years. If you are a Bible believer, you will note the story of Ham’s curse because he saw his father Noah, named. It is immoral to knowingly subject your kids to seeing your act of sex. Observing a sexual act can also create a soul tie, the wrong kind of soul tie. They bolster the relationship between a husband and a wife, but such ties with a child are damaging.
The children look happy, healthy and clean in the picture.
That’s what I thought too...unfortunately people surrounding this family have begun speaking out and it’s not looking good for this family IMO....there’s more going on here then meets the eye..for sure.

That's just speculation at this point. You're free to do it but I'm going to resist the temptation for now. The family claims that the Sheriff didn't have a warrant. I didn't see any refutation of that. If it's true that's a red flag and I'd like to hear the Sheriff's explanation for it.
Nah...this thing with this particular family has been ongoing for some time...which does indicate there’s something that needs to be worked out that isn’t...and the parents continue to be on the defensive. “Protest too much” when simply allowing the CPS to speak with the kids would have prevented all this...they refused.
IMO...the wife is trying to protect the husband ....what’s she going to do with 10 kids by herself?
Y'all don't know what you're talking about. There have ALWAYS been mountain folk living right here just that way. one of my good friends lives year around in Teepees with his wife and four kids and several grand kids.. Best kind of folks there is. If you don't run into him at a potlatch or rondy, you'd never be able to find him again for that year.
I know others that lived for years in tents while they were building their cabins, and I know many, many that are unplugged from the grid, and always have been.
