I liked the days when kids did what they wanted and settled things mostly on their own. Occasionally, there would be a fight, and the teachers would let it go a bit, but make sure that no one really got hurt.
If someone was doing something stupid, you got detention and a note home or suspension.
Of course today, the cops need to come and there’s a lawsuit.

Immediately after high school a bunch of my more troublesome classmates ran afoul of law enforcement and landed in prison. Now if they hadn’t been allowed to run amok (for years) and screw up everyone else’s education, they probably would have avoided becoming guests of the state.
