Jeb Bush Believes 'People Can Be Persuaded' on Immigration Reform
Latin Post ^ | 5/10/15 | Robert Schoon

In an interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly, Jeb Bush spoke out about his position on immigration reform, saying he believes some in the GOP base "can be persuaded" on the subject.

In the growing field of official and prospective Republican candidates for the 2016 presidential elections, Jeb Bush currently stands out the most for his views on immigration reform, which could be described as closer to Hilary Clinton's position than many of his GOP rivals. As we previously reported, Bush believes in a path to "earned legal status" for the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

Now, in a Fox News interview airing Monday night, Bush defended his position, playing up his differences with the "no amnesty" views of the Republican base and other presidential hopefuls as a political necessity -- and as evidence of his leadership.

"There's got to be a point where we fix this system so that legal immigration is easier than illegal immigration," stated Bush in a preview clip of the full interview released by Fox News on Sunday. "And show some respect for people."

Echoing statements he made earlier this year about allowing undocumented immigrants to "come out of the shadows," Bush posed a hypothetical to Kelly and hinted he believes the right wing of his party has gone "over the line" in their strict position on immigration reform.

Well, seeing that trying to persuade the populace of the desirability a presently unpopular policy position is a drag on a political campaign, if he really believes this, perhaps Bush the Lesser should devote himself to the project of persuasion, rather than running for President.

Jeb is pushing immigration for the Better Business Bureau and is at least understandable. What he does not understand can fill buckets. No sense is playing that out here but as a Bush with experience, you would think that he would know better! I look at this as a detriment on the Bush family but of course they look at this as a business decision. Cheaper workers equal better business profits equals more workers. That is the reason for their push for liberal immigration. Of course they won’t tell you that the more immigrants, the cheaper the wages but hey will push the idea that it means more exports...geez.

Sometimes I think that the Republicans are way too stupid to be an actual party. We really do need another party that actually stands for people and not big money wherever it comes from!

Yes, America seems to be doomed these days in that both parties are all about the money and not about the country.

Three-Step Plan:

Seal the borders.

Deport all illegal aliens.

Swear in President Biden.

“The article references 11 million illegal aliens. It seems to me I’ve been hearing about 10 or 11 or 12 million illegals for the past 20 years. Surely the number hasn’t remained static over that time.”

Triple that and you’ll have the number.

You mean like the “respect’ illegals show us? Sorry but if you came here illegally and I don’t care if you were brought here by your parents, you should NEVER be rewarded with citizenship. If Jeb is on the ballot I’ll have to write in someone else’s name.

Yes, any time you hear some pol citing that 11 million number as current, you know they are an automaton simply spewing a talking point with no brain engaged.

Well I never watched.

I liked what he had to say, quite a bit.

He should stand up, and run. Not play games. Run.

Well, I watched it and he actually sounded pretty good.

He had a surprising grasp on the issues important to me.

He’s going to have to win me over though.

I’ve not been impressed by his professionalism politically prior to this.
