A friend and adviser of Jeb Bush said Tuesday morning that the likely 2016 presidential hopeful told her he had misheard a question from Megyn Kelly, the Fox News host, about the war in Iraq, after his response created an uproar of criticism from the left and the right.
Ana Navarro, a Republican strategist from Florida who has been an ally of Mr. Bush, made the remarks in an interview on CNNs New Day.
Knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion? Ms. Kelly asked Mr. Bush in the interview.
I would, Mr. Bush answered.
Ms. Navarro told CNN she did not know whether Mr. Bush would clarify that remark.
I emailed him this morning and I said to him, Hey, Im a little confused by this answer so Im genuinely wondering did you mishear the question?' Ms. Navarro said in the interview. And he said, Yes, I misheard the question.'

He does claim to be Latino so we should all understand.
This clown-show cannot go away soon enough.
Quick! Prop Jebbie up. He’s gotta hang in there at least for a while to keep Romney out.
If this guy gets the nomination, we are so screwed.
Ana Navarro is a paid mouthpiece of the Cheap Labor Express.
Everything she says is suspect.
I think he misheard it as "Knowing what we know now about the lawlessness and huge cost of Obama's immigration executive orders, will you continue to support them?"
Sure, happens all the time. What she asked was, Knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion?, but what he heard was “would you cross the street to save a basket full of drowning puppies?” It’s just another merry mix-up.
If this guy gets the nomination, we are so screwed.
That’s the whole idea.
To give us no choice but amnesty vs amnesty, just like every Presidential election since the last amnesty.
What is it with brothers of Presidents? Though maybe not rising to the idiot level of some of these, add the Jebster to the list: Roger Clinton, Hugh Rodham, Tony Rodham, Billy Carter, Donald Nixon, Sam Houston Johnson. God save us from another RINO-RAT Bush!!
Far be it for me to defend Jeb, however...
This really is a gotcha question. Jeb Bush didn’t authorize the invasion, George W. Bush did.
Are they asking Hillary if she would again vote to authorize military action against Iraq, like she did in 2002, as a senator? How about all the other democrat senators that voted for it also?
Or how about Bill Clinton, and his endorsement of the Iraq Liberation Act bill from 1998, which specifically called for the removal of Saddam Hussein?
These NY Times people are playing politics with the nation’s foreign policy, something they just criticized a bunch of Republican senators for concerning that letter to Iran. Bunch of hypocrites.
If I was any Bush, I would have answered:
“Yes, I would have done it completely different! I would have gone in without waiting for the UN or Congress, right after we were attacked on 9/11, and would have shown the world right then and there, all the WMD Hussein had that we pussy-footed around and let Russia, France and Germany help move to Syria.”
“Also, once we killed Saddam, I would have ordered the troops hard right into Iran, and ended that monstrosity then and there. “
“One more thing. No, if you break it, you own it. The Middle East is broken due to Islam. I would have ordered the troops home, right after they killed the bad guys—with the warning that we’d be back if they didn’t knock off all that ‘Death to America’ bullshit!”
Let's be fair! It's probable that Jebbie heard that question as "If a cute little puppy fell into a hole, would you help it get out?"
9 out of 11 911 bombers were Saudi! They attacked out capitol, why did we avoid theirs?
Rhetoric may feel good, but it doesn't accomplish much.
The left doesn't care about the points you make by showing their hypocrisy.
Just saying.

But we didn’t know then what we know now. So what’s the point?
Targeted strikes to remove the leadership would have been appropriate, along with sanctions, but again, who knew?

That would mean that he had grown a pair, which we all know is impossible.
Excellent questions and proposed responses!
It was an intentionally loaded question and his first response should have been, Since you purport to speak for us, what, in your view is it we now know.
The liberal media persists in rewriting U.S. history (e.g., We lost the war in Viet Nam.) and she no doubt would have gone on with a liberal line that he could have discredited.
He might have followed that with, “Am I limited to invasion, or would you allow me other military and political tools?”
It is no secret that many of our people on the ground at the time had first-hand knowledge of the presence of WMD. It is possible other countries or groups have removed the various substances for private use; but, if not, my money says Iraq remains a toxic environment. If so, in the absence of a local effort to clean it up, it will become more of a threat with the passage of time.
I think it was 16 out of 19 hijackers were Saudis.
No cast-o vote-o for Jeb-o....ever-o
