I haven’t been in that church since the very late 1970s, but his comments affect the thinking of millions of people in this country, and he’s come down squarely on the side of the political left.
That’s why I care what he says.

Actually, upon reading the excerpt, I don't know that I disagree with what he said. I would hope tha those in power who erect barriers to the efficient production and distribution of food would be held to account, asvwell as those who abuse God's Creation.
The last paragraph of the excerpt says it all for me.
