VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican officially recognized the state of Palestine in a new treaty finalized Wednesday, immediately sparking Israeli ire and accusations that the move hurt peace prospects.
The treaty, which concerns the activities of the Catholic Church in Palestinian territory, makes clear that the Holy See has switched its diplomatic recognition from the Palestine Liberation Organization to the state of Palestine.
The Vatican had welcomed the decision by the U.N. General Assembly in 2012 to recognize a Palestinian state. But the treaty is the first legal document negotiated between the Holy See and the Palestinian state and constitutes official diplomatic recognition.
“Yes, it’s a recognition that the state exists,” said the Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi.

I’m not a Catholic, and I’m not a big fan of making negative religious connotations, but in this instance it would be wrong not to mention the Vatican’t (see this issue clearly).
I don’t think Israel gets everything right, but it’s pure insanity to think giving the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza more power, is going to lead to peace between Israel and them.
Thus this act will contribute to far more violence than it will prevent.
Shame on you Pope. You should know better. IMO, that if you had a closer relationship with God, you’d know all this.

When I was a kid, raised in a very fundamental Church—holy rollers, you might say—we were told he Pope was the. Antichrist. They said the 666 was inside of his Pope hat.
It was reported here earlier when it made the radio news circut my immediate reaction was a prayer to St Michael the Archangel. Does this fool think that move is going to protect Christians in Gaza, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, or anywhere else ? He has yet to condem the fundamentals of Islam which eminates from man through a messenger not The Creator.
