Republicans Candidates Split on Giving Obama Fast Track Authority on TPP
The Libertarian Republican ^ | 05/12/15

Cruz’s sudden trust of President Obama seems contrary to his nature. Has Cruz read the TPP? Even if he has, it seems a gamble to trust the Obama administration. Is there really any harm in having congress debate the agreement? If it is as good as its proponents say, it would have no trouble passing. Considering that the White House has not proven to be a friend of free markets, it would be wise to scrutinize any agreement this president supports.

Cruz was my vote, but I’m VERY DISAPPOINTED with this stance.

It will destroy what is left of our Republic. That fact that Cruz is willing to pass the bill without looking at it should be extremely alarming.

This is just like Obama Care. You have to pass it to find out what is in it.

Like everything else, I will take this into consideration. Cruz, Walker, and a number of others will need to make statements, corrections, and own up to their deeds.

I’ll give Cruz time to correct or explain his position on this.

If he can’t, he’s done for for me also.

And it looks like Cruz doesn’t see it. He is trusting Obama to do the right thing. How could anyone on the right side trust Obama to do what is right for the US?

I hope it is not connected with the support of Freescale Semiconductor’s Robert Mercer. That could possibly also explain his support of increased H1B visas. I sincerely hope this is not the case because I have admired Cruz’s courage and intelligence.

YES. and also this is the worst bill many times worse than even Obamacare:

The controversial TPP, of course, is disguised as a treaty to promote “free trade” — more properly described as managed or corporatist trade — among nations surrounding the Pacific. However, the TPP agreement, currently being negotiated behind closed doors by governments, dictatorships, and special interests, includes some major surprises. As The New American reported recently, a leaked chapter of the TPP deal would create NAFTA-style international “tribunals” with the purported authority to override American laws, courts, and even the U.S. and state constitutions — all for the benefit of special interests, foreigners, and crony capitalists. The American people and self-government would be the big losers.

Another chapter of the agreement making headlines this week, meanwhile, purports to regulate immigration policies among TPP signatories. “The Trans-Pacific Partnership includes an entire chapter on immigration,” observed Curtis Ellis, executive director of the American Jobs Alliance, in a post for The Hill. “It is a Trojan horse for Obama’s immigration agenda. House members who were ready to defund the Department of Homeland Security to stop President Obama’s executive action on immigration must not give him TPA, which he will use to ensure his immigration actions are locked in when he leaves office.”

That video was from January 24, 2015.

I want to hear his opinion now. There are too many people here trying to destroy him whenever they have a chance.

I read that Disney was the testing ground for the TPP.

Disney got tax benefits for each U.S. worker they replaced in their I.T. department with H1B immigrant that worked for 1/3 the cost. Corporations are trying to drive wages down, as the cost food and energy go up.

It is said that Disney U.S. I.T. employees had to train their H1B replacements for jobs located here in the USA.

The replacements worked for about 25K to 30K a year on average. That’s a lot of money for a foreigner. Oh and Disney also got a tax cut from the IRS for each U.S. worker they replaced here in the USA.

“Has Cruz read the TPP?”

The answer is no. It is written in government legalese, which means it cites whole paragraphs and references by the labeling numbers in other laws rather than write an explanation. It will take a staff many hours to go through it.

Are you sure this isn’t a really smart play against the Democrats? They are fighting like cats and dogs just to bring it up on a floor vote, not the real vote.

Here is another article about Cruz for the TPP

“In an April 21 Wall Street Journal op-ed co-authored with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., Cruz said the TPP and another potential trade pact with European nations “would mean greater access to a billion customers for American manufacturers, farmers and ranchers.””

I think we do ourselves a disservice by allowing “fast track” and the trade agreement to be linked. No-one should be against trade in principle, what we should resist is letting people spend years negotiating this thing, deny us a say or even a look, and then do an end run around the law in order to shove this thing down our throats.

I’m not excited about Cruz or anyone else. The last time I got excited about anyone I ended up disappointed.

I’ve already decided to not vote for any more republicans. If Cruz gets the nomination and continues to talk the talk and walk the walk, then I will vote for him. But his support of obama this far out from the election perplexes me. He’s got a long time to screw up. I hope this is his only one.
