Maryland, Illinois, and California will be a turkey shoot for them, since they are run by Democrats and (effectively) don’t have the means to shoot back.
Michigan should be quite easy, for the same reason.
Virginia might hold a few surprises, though - unless they limit themselves to college campii.
Illinois has had a CCW licensing program for well over a year. Last time I checked nearly 50,000 had been issued. Both Mrs L and I have ours. They’ll be in for a rude shock in Illinois.

Don’t equate Illinois with Chicago.
Yes, in Chicago it’s likely the bad guys out-gun the good guys. But get outside of Chicago, and Cook County, and Illinois is a very red state, with a multitude of heavily-armed patriotic Americans, who will not “...go gently into that good night.”

If they attack NOVA it likely they wouldn’t meet much resistance, not too many real Virginians left up there. Mostly northeast liberal transplants and foreigners.
In the rest of VA (ROVA), they’re likely to get a hot reception.
I disagree with you. Folks where I live in Michigan are armed to the teeth and seem to enjoy a good fight.
When were you in Michigan? Outside the southeast part of the state there are a lot of hunters. And even then the mayor of Detroit said you should be prepared to defend yourself.
