I know. You were pointing out what a knucklehead that Bremer was. I still like to point out the betrayal of Turkey in forbidding one of our divisions (1st Inf Div?) passage to northern Iraq. I made a significant difference in the mop up campaign.
They were strong allies against the Soviets during the Cold War. They were still under control of Kemalists, and were generally anti-Islamic secularists.
Those days are no more, and Islam is resurgent in Turkey after having been suppressed for ~100 years by the Ataturk and his successors.
This is not a good thing.
