Islam and the 'Great Religions'
American Thinker ^ | Sha'i ben-Tekoa

Political correctness dictates that all religions are of equal worth; that there are “Three Great Abrahamic Religions,” and “The Arabs are Semites too, so they can’t be anti-Semites.” All these clichés need to be buried.

While Christianity and Islam were both offshoots of the Jews and took from them the concept of having one’s own Holy Writ, their self-definitions as new faith communities were radically different. The Coine Greek language narratives appended to the Hebrew Bible purport to be a continuation of Jewish history. The Catholic Church even defines itself in Latin as Verus Israel, the True Israel.

But Muslims make no such claim. On the contrary, the Koran re-wrote many of the stories in the Hebrew Bible in the spirit of Islam’s doctrine that Muslims are Allah’s true chosen people. The early Christians left Jewish Scripture intact; the Muslims did not. Christianity wanted to hold onto Jewishness to a degree; Muslims dismissed it as a pack of lies.

Moreover, in plagiarizing the Jewish Bible instead of adding to it -- which makes of the Koran a form of copyright infringement or intellectual property theft -- Muslims claim that the discrepancies between the two versions are the result of the Jews’ theft of the Koran. And never mind that the God of Israel bestowed upon the Israelites the Five Books of Moses in the year 1313 b.c.e. and the Koran dates to the late 7th and early 8th centuries c.e., almost two thousand years later. When a Muslim is confronted with the contradictory narratives of the same incidents, he answers that Musa (the Arabic mispronunciation of the Hebrew name Mosheh) brought the Koran down from Mt. Sinai but the perfidious Jews then re-wrote it and called it their Torah until Muhammad came along and restored the original text.

The Death and Destruction Cult is a bastardized version of the Great Religions.

I don't think an ideology can be killed.

The best way to get rid of an ideology is to expose the falseness of it.

Except that “anti-Semitism” has always been understood to mean “anti-Jew”, and not “anti-Arab”

No matter - satan NEVER deserves any grammatical respect or courtesy.

That doesn’t make it sensible semantically. I won’t use the term same as I won’t use “they” as a singular pronoun. It is simply not correct. Words mean things.

So they do. “Anti-Semite” means “anti-Jewish”. Languages aren't always logical, and this is the historical usage.

Arabs can definitely be anti-Semitic, just like blacks can be racist.

But if you would rather not use that terminology. That's certainly alright with me. On the other hand, if you are saying that Arabs aren't anti-Jewish, then I would say that you are mistaken.

No, but the English language can always use some, I say that as a serial abuser of it :)

That being said, does it not show an undeserved respect to whatever general in Satan's army “Allah” really is, to deliberately break standard rules of grammar just to insult him? It's so much more effective just to call him the father of dogs and pigs except I love dogs and am very fond of pork.

Anyway, it's a trivial disagreement, and I think we share the same opinion of Islam.

Negroes are more likely to be truly racist in America than other people are. Negroes are rarely anti-black, though. Semites being anti-Semite simply offends my sense of words and their denotations. Call a dog a panda and it is still a dog. Call a dog a dog and be more precise and less apt to incite confusion or be confused.

To paraphrase the old saying, a skunk by any other name would stink as badly.
