I do live in OH. The Medicaid stance is one of the government roles (that I disagree with) to which I was referring. Keep in mind, I’m a refugee from The People’s Republic of Maryland. Kasich is far and away better as a governor than what I fled and arrived to with Strickland.

Certainly effective and far better than Strickland, who was more of a cheerleader for Obama than a Governor. However you feel about Kasich's position on any given issue, one thing you have to say is that he gets the votes. His last run for Governor gathered 64% of the vote in a state whose electorate mirrors fairly well the average middle class voter in America. He won 86 of 88 Ohio counties, including heavily Democratic counties like Cuyahoga and Lucas, and won at least 70% of the vote in 47 counties. So if you like a candidate who gets a lot of votes, you could do worse than Kasich.

OTOH, I'm not sure that necessarily translates to a broad-based national support. He doesn't have a lot of name recognition outside of Ohio so it will likely be an uphill struggle to build a winning campaign. But from an electorate vote viewpoint, we absolutely need Ohio. If it goes into Hillary's column we're pretty much done for.

Please spare the flames on Kasich's position on the issues. I understand a lot of FReepers hate him because of his stand on some issues. I'm talking about political strategy and winning elections here, which is something we should also be focused on.
