That was during the height of PC silliness... we've come a long way since then...
I got a kick out of that statement about the Asians. I had to get new specs and the two opticians who ran the place were Vietnamese. First names were Stephanie and Tiffany. Years ago I implemented some software at the Kaneohe Air Station in Hawaii and had to work past quitting time. When I told the Asian kid who was the computer operator, he said he'd have to inform his wife he'd be late. I waited for him to say something like "Hello, Shino? . . ." Instead, I heard "Hey Martha . . .". Another stereotype died that night.
I think the black comment is painted too broadly as I've known older black guys with regular names. When I was a kid in NYC in the '40s we used to kid guys whose names were "George Washington Jones" or "Abraham Lincoln Smith". I guess it was when a segment of them wanted to re-segregate themselves that they started making up off-the-wall names.
This is why the Federal Reserve IS the foundation of the leftist/progressive state. This man's above comment needs to be repeated OVER AND OVER
I know of a Chinese woman who came to the US via Vietnam in the 70s. Her father was a Chinese businessman in South Vietnam during the war. After South Vietnam fell, he was evicted from his house and he and his family were forced to live under the porch of someone’s house. When he finally emigrated to the US he was put on welfare and in government housing. He was ashamed to live off the government so everyone in the family found multiple jobs and they were out of public housing and off welfare in a month.
Yet we have third and fourth generation blacks who are living off the public dole and have no intention of getting off their butts and working.
Yeah, a long way in the wrong direction.
Any truth that hurts must not be uttered....
bttt
We’re fighting back against PC thinking and we’re winning...lots more people are taking on the ‘thought police’ than in years past...This guy’s a perfect example. He’s telling the truth in the face of people who want to shut down free speech.
The professor might have bigger problems than accusations of racism. Deterioration in one's ability to write and communicate can be an early sign.
I like your spirit, and I sure hope you’re right.
From what I've seen the reverse is true. Fat/ugly white-girls not attractive white girls are the norm.
I would challenge the “THAT’S RACIST” leftists who disagree with his statement to tell us where he’s wrong.
Black women who see such a couple get very angry.
And all—but the white males—are witty, clever, mature, tolerant, helpful, strong, and oh-so-much-smarter than the white-male.
But what about non-students.
Any time you see a group of Blacks at the corner, they certainly aren't looking for a day's work!
Asians blah blah blah
Statistically they still vote worse than latinos but better than blacks
Woopteedo
I don’t see the assimilation to the degree of enthusiasm folks here do
Nobody after the Various European migrations truly assimilates on that scale
Now why is that......no one wants to admit why
Speaking of “longitudinal detection of dementia through lexical and syntactic changes in writing” [which by the way I do fully understand], how does his use of “the blacks” or “the Asians” substantively differ from “blacks” or “Asians” except that one more formalizes a connection with a group?
One might say that of, say, Jewish mothers, uncles or aunts - any old guard relative who says “the Gays?”
Further, to detect deterioration, one first must have some sample of earlier writing from which to discern a difference.
The whole bugaboo about this is that, in however awkwardly or behind the times manner, he spoke a semblance of truth in what he perceives from what he could observe in his daily world. That doesn’t mean he is demented because he used the word “the”.
To condemn upon the first instance because of the use of some ill-defined ‘trigger’ word or phrase is condemnation and censorship - certainly ill fitting in a country where all manner of person is supposed to have free speech.
For some reason, your reminded me of a funny incident that happened to me a few years ago.
I was in a Dollar Store in a nearby city. My wife was inside shopping, and I was keeping track of my daughter, who was then about seven or eight. We were near the door, looking at trinkets.
This black guy and his white wife come out, and they're fighting. Not really loud, but obviously they were arguing about something. I was a little bit uncomfortable, I'll admit.
As they walked past us, the guy noticed me looking at him. We made eye contact. I got really uncomfortable, but only for a second. That's because the guy says to me "You married?" I said "yeah," and he says "I pity you." and walks out with the woman.
Made me laugh, after he was gone.
white with blond hair is what goes
The differences that Summers commented on are facts. As you might expect, they went after him anyway.
