Bullets ricocheted around the parking lot of Twin Peaks, the Waco restaurant where a motorcycle gang shootout left nine dead, just minutes after Theron Rhoten pulled in on his vintage Harley chopper for a regional motorcycle club meeting, according to Rhoten’s wife. Katie Rhoten told The Associated Press that her husband ran for cover and was later arrested, along with antique motorcycle enthusiast friends and other “nonviolent, noncriminal people.” Authorities swept up around 170 bikers who had descended on the restaurant for what one club member described as a gathering to discuss laws protecting motorcycle riders.... McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara and Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton declined to comment Tuesday on allegations that innocent bikers were arrested.

Stephen, it does appear the broken promise and broken arrow ... from them that call themselves informants of truth called media in the form of abc, nbc, cnn, abc, pbs ... so sad they lie!
There are some out here that just hate bikers. Doesn’t seem to matter to them if they are in benign clubs or not. Most don’t realize that you can be a “1%er” without being a criminal... death sentence for anyone who rides ... especially us Harley riders.
Well, what would you call it when they complain about harassment from the cops?
I have no doubt it happens and I don’t approve of it. But if I walk around with a sign that “I hate cops,” I would expect to get a lot of negative attention from LEO.
IOW, they join an admittedly and proudly criminal organization, they complain when they’re treated accordingly.

you and me both- it sounds to me from everything i’ve read is that the cops gunned down bikers in an overreaction, and once one started shooting, they all did.

It was the monthly meeting of all clubs to organize respective events and discuss current motorcycle legislation.
We have the same thing here, under the banner of A.B.A.T.E.
I have not gone to the meetings in a very long time because they are mind-numbingly boring.
It’s all about when/where benefits for whomever/whatever and dry legislative stuff.

I’m just pointing out how similar the arguments sound as the ones apologetic for the Ferguson or Baltimore arrested.

two biker gangs got together to try to iron out some difference.
if they wanted to start a fight i dont think they would choose a public restaurant as the meeting place.
i am not yet convinced that nervous cops overreacted to something and started shooting. All the dead are bikers- no cops.

A 170 people arrested at a shopping center and restaurant are not the same as those attending a riot.
