the GOP establishment knows full well that quotes like these will be picked up and run with by the drive by media for days or weeks, and yet they do it anyway. it's sickening. the GOP needs to be purged. there was a time in the 80's when i thought that Reagan's popularity and success had taught the GOP establishment the error of their ways. that hope died when G.H.W. Bush muttered those infamous words, "read my lips, no new taxes".
it's hard to justify to myself why i'm still a registered republican. they haven't fielded a presidential candidate that represented my views for more than 30 years now (since 1984).
