The CNN Republican primary debate on Sept. 16 will be divided into two parts featuring two different sets of candidates: those who rank in the top 10 according to public polling, and the remaining candidates who meet a minimum threshold of one percent in public polilng, the On Media blog has learned.

The debate critera is more inclusive than the first Repbulican primary debate hosted by Fox News on August 6. That debate will only feature candidates who finish in the top 10 in an average of the five most recent national polls. The remaining candidates will get airtime on Fox News on Aug. 6, but will not be included in the debate itself.

So once again we’ll enable and empower our enemies. Gee, good plan.

As long as either Stephanopoulos or Crowley moderate the rest of the format is trivial.

Not for nothing but the RNC should set up a debate as it sees fit. If CNN wishes to cover it, fine, if not they can spend the evening gazing at their Democratic navels.

Hillary Clinton and Sid Blumenthal will be the moderators to show that CNN is not biased. /s

Stephanopolous has said he will not moderate any debates this year, given his recent foul publicity re the Clinton Foundation. In a sense it matters not because just about anyone they put in will be as partisan.

The Democratic debate will also be split between those with giant asses and those who are wrinkled old hags. It’s still unclear which debate Hitlery will be in.

Clinto News Network sets the criteria ....

What's wrong with THAT picture ?

If the GOP had ANY brains .... they'd buy 6 hours of TV ..... request questions from the country .... sit every candidate down and give each one a printout of all the questions (categorized)

Let Cruz pick (f'rinstance) .. whatEVER he wanted to from... sayyyy ... the "immigration" section of the list and lay it on Jeb Bush (f'rinstance) ... and Jeb has 3 or 4 minutes

The only 'officialling' would be a time keeper, a monitor to rotate all candididates fairly and someone to keep the kids from throwing erasers at each other

THAT would be a debate

I agree wholeheartedly. The liberal media is setting the agenda for the Republicans when they should be running the whole show.

It should be on C-Span with Republican moderators. Not the hippy-dippy channels full of antagonistic gotcha questions.

I agree.. Why doesn't the GOP set up their own debates and invite the media to cover if they wish. The GOP should also provide their own moderators. I am tired of the liberal media framing the debates as they see fit; or as the dem’s want them too....

Because it’s not in the script. The GOP are supposed to lose. After all, it’s Hillary’s turn.

All of the GOP debates should be on FOX. The other networks are Marxist shills and cannot be trusted to be impartial.

Gotcha questions will not be allowed by moderator. After initial round candidates may ask questions of other candidates on a rotating basis. No filibusters, questions and answers will be timed.

Subsequent debates will also be held on FOX with different formats to allow candidates to show their versatility.

Nobody watches those other networks anyway, so why make money for them?

Absolutely right!! The Mainstream Republicans give the Liberals the sword to use against any Republican.
The Mainstream Republicans and the Tea Party do not need CNN to be in charge of anything.
The problem is that the Mainstream Republicans are cowards, sober or drunk.

Oh, of course not, they will probably pick someone completely impartial, like Chelseahorseface Clinton, or Moooochelle Obama or maybe Alarceny Sharpton.
