And by, ‘you’ I don’t mean specifically ‘you.’ I mean ALL of us!

Yikes. You’re a downer. IMHO there is pretty much nothing a person can’t rise above. Maybe a terminal illness, or being disabled, but if you’re able-bodied and can’t find SOMETHING to do with your life, the onus is on you.

So WHAT if you have to work two part time jobs? Plenty of people do it. I work one full time job, have a job from home, take care of my elderly father, farm on a small scale and soon I’ll be farming full time...while also working part time.

Whiners, Everywhere! Get it together. You’re an American and you live in the last place on EARTH where you can still do this.

Look at our President. For the love of all that’s holy, the guy has never worked a day in his LIFE - and he’s the freakin’ PRESIDENT of the United States of America! LOL!

*SOBBING*

Yes. And I’m very concerned that ROBOTS are going to take over my job. *Rolleyes*

I’m sticking by my initial ‘thots.’ Yours are defeatist in every sense of the word.

Are you a decorator for the Titanic?

Perhaps if the powers that were on the Titanic had been concerned about bigger issues such as safety, their route, etc. their outcome might have been different.

I want the outcome, i.e. future of this country to be different than the course it is on—you may think everything is hunky-dory and that I am a shiner, but I think I am a realist. I am extremely concerned that the last place on EARTH is being threatened (and threatened by more than just immigration.)

I did not say people cannot rise above bad situations. They can and do. You don’t know my life or my family. BTW, we are all doing very well. So I am not a defeatist.

However, I say WHY should middle class US citizens be forced into working 2 or 3 jobs because of reckless immigration policies brought about by lobbyists? WHY should people have to rise above dire circumstances that are being created by poor corrupt governance against the will of the people?

Glad you are happy and so successful—I but I hope I never ever see you whine on FR about regulations or unfair competitive practices affecting farming or anything else for that matter.

I won’t even get into the election of our President as reason I should not be a “downer” For the love of all that’s holy, the guy never should have been elected, and I still question the 100%++ vote totals for Milwaukee and other urban counties.

You can stand by your “thots” (Oh and yes, I can spell out thoughts if you prefer...geez), but I think you are very smug and naive.

They’re able to find jobs in hours, not days. The demand is insatiable.

SOrry, that is not what the articles say (and these are people who testified to Congress at hearings), nor is it what I have personally seen with my 3 STEM children. Though they are all employed and doing well, none got job in hours—even the one in San Jose...

Jobs in hours? For whom? May happen if have the right connections or the hot-at-the-moment skill? However, I don’t think it is something that can be considered across the board....

IF the demand is so hot, then why do we not make policies that would facilitate training or retraining for these jobs to be had in hours by unemployed and underemployed US CITIZENS..instead of hiring a bunch of H-1B visas?? I am dead serious about this.

BTW, if it is as hot and easy as you say, please tell me more as I used to do tech recruitment, and it sounds like I could make a fortune placing tech workers...

That’s the way it works here in Dallas. They evidently have poor skills or don’t interview skills.

Glad for Dallas. I will tell everyone I know that they can get job in tech in hours if they can conduct decent interview and have good skills—those unemployment numbers and stories about Disney, Edison, etc. are apparently bogus.

H-1B ping. Let me know if you're not on the list and want to be added (or are and want to be removed).

Look at what all that cheap foreign labor did for Microsoft.

They were the biggest tech giant on the planet; controlled practically 95% of the operating systems in home and office, - then missed out on all of the major tech developments of the 21st century ( revamped search engines, digital music, smartphones, tablets, social media ).

Indeed - qualified-on-paper indentured drones are not known for their creativity.

Re: “We’re ALL Free Agents. Always have been, always will be, no matter where we are in this world.”

With one huge difference - there is no reciprocity for Americans.

Millions of Mexicans, Chinese, Asian Indians, and Muslims are allowed to work, or become welfare eligible legal residents, or become citizens in the USA.

Diana - can you legally work, receive welfare, or become a citizen in any of those countries or any Muslim country?

Of course not.

“...no matter where we are in this world.”

I mis-spoke. I meant no matter where we live in America, or no matter where we are in our working lives.

But, then, maybe not in places like Ferguson or Detroit.

There I go with that ‘white privelege’ attitude, again! ;)

OK, I accept that.

But my point remains.

Why should Americans have to compete against foreigners for American jobs, when the reverse is not true?

Why is that fair in your mind?

You or I would not even be allowed to buy land or a house in the countries I mentioned in my other post.

What do you think about the following statement by your governor?

“In terms of legal immigration, how we need to approach that going forward is saying – the next president and the next Congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages,” Walker said Monday in an interview with Glenn Beck. “It is a fundamentally lost issue by many in elected positions today – what is this doing for American workers looking for jobs, what is this doing to wages, and we need to have that be at the forefront of our discussion going forward.” - http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3281780/posts

It isn’t ‘fair.’ Nothing in LIFE is ‘fair.’ Nor, should it be. And I’m as unhappy with the illegal invasion and the loss of manufacturing in American as the next guy.

But, WW III will fix all of that because we never learn and we have self-serving politicians who care little for us or America in the long run.

I love him. He’s said on many occasions that foreigners need to go BACK to their home countries and get in line for citizenship.

The layoffs aren’t, but finding jobs isn’t difficult. We have dozens we can’t fill.

He wants to limit legal immigration to protect American workers and American wages - do you?
