Suspect in 4 D.C. killings identified after DNA is found on pizza sent to burned home

D.C. police said late Wednesday that they have identified a suspect in the killings of Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, young son and housekeeper, who authorities believe were held captive in the family’s Northwest Washington home.

Police said they had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Daron Dylon Wint, who they said is 34 and is from Maryland. They said they do not know his whereabouts.

The stunning break in the case came after police matched Wint to DNA found on the crust of a Domino’s pizza that had been ordered to the house the night of May 13, as the victims were being held, according to three law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation

The next morning, Savvas Savopoulos’s personal assistant dropped off a package containing $40,000 in cash at the home, according to the officials and police documents.

Hours later, the multimillion-dollar house was on fire, and the four occupants were dead. When firefighters arrived that afternoon, the cash was gone, as was a blue Porsche owned by the family. The vehicle was found later that day, torched in a church parking lot in Prince George’s County.

Information about the money drop adds a perplexing new dimension to a case that has riveted Upper Northwest Washington as well as the District’s business and society circles with which the couple had been intimately involved. Savvas Savopoulos, 46; Amy Savopoulos, 47; their 10-year-old son, Philip; and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57, all were killed.

Law enforcement officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said detectives think that the family and housekeeper had been held overnight in the home near the vice president’s mansion and that at one point they may have been bound.

Well, "silicon" is the element widely used in semiconductors, hence the name "Silicon Valley" for the semiconductor industry.

SiliconE is a horse of a different color. It is a term for a wide range of polymers. Boob implants, for example, often comprise silicone as the bulk filler material.

So, "siliconE" valley would be a land of fake tits.

This story will drop off the radar now it’s known a black man is the likely killer.

Doesn’t fit the liberal bullsh*t meme.

So Silicone Valley would be Hollywood then? Same state, anyway.

Every reasonable person in D.C. is concerned about security. All the homes have security systems. This is Johaneesburg. It sounds like it hasn’t got to your town yet.

I wasn’t sure what the laws were regarding DC law and federal law

Let me help.

Aricle I §8; "Congress shall have the power...To exercise EXCLUSIVE legislation IN ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States..."

Great news! They caught the piece of crap, with a truckload of cash, at 12th and Rhode Island Avenues NE, not far from Catholic University. If Obama had a son...

BREAKING NEWS: Police catch suspect wanted in quadruple murder who was trailing 'accomplices' in a box truck filled with cash in Northeast DC

He is so screwed. Trying to give a damn.

Nope. Don't give a damn.

Great news, indeed!

I’m curious, though - where did this scumbag get a box truck full of cash?? I understand that the victim’s assistant delivered $40,000 to the house at the time of the murders, but that’s not a box truck full.....

Reminds me of the split level my Dad moved us into in '62 (moved from inner city of Rochester to suburbs).

Paid $15K for it and it also had a garage, and a hip roof on the two-story section. He later regretted not going the extra $600 to turn the crawl space into a full basement....

Last I looked in the old area, that house was going for over $225K. It'll be a long time before a home becomes the appreciating investment it used to be - maybe never. I guess that's not really bad since they really did become overpriced.

4 Grisly Killings Fuel Terror in a Hamlet

December 23, 1989. The Harris family murdered and then doused with gasoline and set on fire.

Perp and his mother go Christmas Shopping with credit cards stolen from the Harris family.

One of the pieces of evidence was a fingerprint from perp's mother, Shirley Kinge, on a gas can. The perp , Michael Kinge, was killed by police.

Shirley Kinge goes to jail for arson and burglary. 18 months.

Sadly, the fingerprint on the gas can was placed there by the state investigator, Shirley Kinge sued and was awarded $250,000.

There is no question of her involvement at least after the fact when she and her son went on a shopping spree. Several investigators across the state admitted to fabricated evidence during 1992. Quite the scandal.

They made it up to avoid publicizing the level to which they can track cell phones.

All they did was extract whose cell phone was near that location and cross reference violent criminals.

They don’t want people to know this so they made up a fanciful story about a crust of pizza.

Many many crimes can be solved by simply tracking phones. That’s what policing is these days. The complex ones go unsolved because perps throw their phones away.
