I’m not sure what you think is “fair” treatment for a family who allowed a child molester back into their home to violate even more vulnerable children, and then sold their story and the privacy of those children for cash, but maybe you could enlighten us.
Because to me, none of descriptives for those who sell their own children are nice or “fair” given that they have admitted to what they did.
This is one of those times that conservatives need to step away and make no attempt to defend the indefensible, regardless of how these people have seemed in the past.
Same buddy had a girlfriend, years ago, who had been abused by her brother.
My cousins' boy molested one of his younger cousins, when he was 14.

I know the boy. I also know of issues in his life since he was young. His dad isn't much of a dad. Watches porn all the time and calls himself the Porn King.
Just connecting with him a couple of times, like young boys needs, and he looks me up when ever I get up there.
Today, he's 19 years old, going to automotive mechanics school. He's TRYING to make something of his life, unlike anybody else in his family. Despite all the things against him.
His shame happened when he was 14. He is 19 now. And has to register as a sex offender his entire life.
I for one hope that he can overcome all the issues in his life.

He fessed up, took responsibility for his actions, and now he seems to be doing quite well. Success story! Oprah on the other hand remains a perverted sexual deviant.
I'll go you a step further. When I was perhaps 7 and my younger brother 4 or 5, we were playing and my brother fell into a large fire ant mound. By the time he got up they were all over him, biting him as fire ants are want to do, and a young lady passing by (in her army uniform, we were on a military base) came over and brushed him off. She took his shirt and knocked the ants out of it. She even rolled up his trousers to get the ants off his legs (and he was damn grateful to have the ants taken off). There is an eternity of difference between swatting the biting fire ants off a small child's legs, and creeping into the rooms of sleeping female siblings to fondle their genitalia.
It would be you that is uniformed. There are many in this world that don’t watch any TV, let alone brain dead “reality” shows. You would do well to cease your condescention toward those who use their free time for pursuits that differ from yours.

As many have pointed out on other threads, he referred to how his parents told him how it would ruin his life. Not a mention of how it could affect the victims. He is very self focused. I’ve enjoyed the show, but never liked him. I’ve dealt with a relative with a narcissistic personality and have seen those traits in Josh Duggar over the years. Trust me, he needs help as it only gets worse over time.
Funny...the family has moved on quite well...
I was thinking of his wife and kids in the future. I’ve seen the pain caused by a narcissistic personality disorder in a marriage that was “good” for forty years. It gets worse and worse over time and I see things in him that are traits of NPD.
If the story is accurate, his criminality cannot just be wished away.
There are moral absolutes.
Doing this at 14 is one thing...doing it with your sisters is incest, which takes it to a whole new level.

The attack by the media (by leaking the sealed report) is another assault on the victims. It’s not hard to figure out whom he assaulted (even though the report was redacted). Those sisters he assaulted have now had their privacy violated. No telling what more this could add to their pain from their childhood victimization and reaction/lack of, from their parents.
I’m disgusted all the way around.
I hope that his interaction with his children is monitored.
No, he did not take responsibility. He was not punished, and his father lawyered up when he was 17 to make sure he didn’t gave ANY consequences.
His parents allowed him back in the house after the first, second, and third times it came up. He was free to mplest children over and over and over.
And the police officer, a close friend of the family hand chosen to talk to him is himself now a convicted child molester, serving 60 years in prison.
The head of their church is a convicted child molester. Beginning to see a pattern?
Ah, this explains why Jim Bob didn’t jump ship when Bill Gothard’s sexual abuse of young girls was uncovered.
