“Giles said her son is an A and B student, but often misses school because of illness. “
Illness? We call that “meth” around here.
It seems the failure here is from the parent not keeping the school informed more than anything else.
She was on Fox & Friends. Not meth.
I’m sure that when he enters adulthood, he will, LIKE MANY OF US, get his butt up every morning and go to work even if he does have a runny nose or tummy ache. Yep, he’ll be responsible then and even go to work when he feels a little bad. (Do I really need it? OK.... /s)
Wrong
We home schooled , but she went to 3 years of high school. She suffered from allergies and the school refused to let her bring medicine (benedryl) to school & refused to let me bring it to her if she called me.
I said fine, FU. She doesn't feel well, she's not coming to school. She was an all A student in all advanced classes, a senior at 15.
The school demanded that I come in come a conference before one of their kangaroo court tribunals after she missed 12 days one year. I refused. I suggested they go after the dozens and dozens of "students" with failing grades that had missed 60 days of school and given fake addresses and phone numbers. The school rep admitted that they had 1/2 hour "conference" slots with parents filled for all day every day as far as the eye could see. She was forced to admit that they really didn't have one slot to waste on a straight A student.
I also pointed out that she could go back to home schooling and Polk County could give up its $2100 a year in federal money. I think that was really the decider. I used that retort multiple time over the years and they folded every time. The dirty little secret is that the milk from the federal teat is based on meeting a number of student days. A student misses over X number of days and $$ is withheld. The public school system is run by money grubbing whores.
