The danger of climate denial - It's no laughing matter
Baltimore Sun ^ | May 22, 2015 | staff

It's Memorial Day, and the forecast is for renewed mocking and derision regarding man-made climate change from the know-nothing, science-averse wing of the Republican Party. President Barack Obama's warning—issued during his commencement address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduation ceremonies Wednesday—that climate change represents a national security threat seems certain to provoke that kind of stormy reaction.

[SNIP]

Among the Republicans running for president, climate change denial is the current mode of thinking for most....it's hard to see anyone in the crowd calling for military preparedness. Mostly, the candidates appear interested in sidestepping the topic (albeit in a disapproving manner)..

The result is not so much an attack on climate change science as an attack on any policy that would seem to address the problem. Is there such a thing as a conservative approach to global warming? If so, we haven't heard it outlined by an actual candidate—although New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would seem the ideal mean for the job as he actually believes climate change to be real and that "human activity contributes to it,".....

Perhaps what Senator Cruz and others should do is simply visit the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis where faculty have been looking into how much damage climate change will have on coastal facilities around the Chesapeake Bay and what are the most cost-effective strategies to deal with it. That might teach them why the Navy and the other branches of the military can't afford to be climate deniers anxious to appease special interests or play to certain voters: They have a country to defend. As Mr. Obama observed, "climate change impacts every country on the planet." It's no laughing matter to imagine a future president who would ignore such an obvious security threat for no good reason beyond some measure of short-term political gain.

If you are in the military and a denier, it is also “ conduct unbecoming”.

The environmental movement is the last refuge of the hard core communist. When Marxism collapsed and the occidentals weren't welcome to nor did they embrace Maoism, the best resting place for massive, society-altering change is environmental activism.

"Global Warming" is an industry in which some serious big-money people have invested some serious big money. The public better buy this swindle, or the serious big-money people -- many of whom aren't very nice -- are going to be very mad

The Baltimore Sun - I used to read that rag almost fifty years ago when I was stationed back that way. Some things never change.

I am waiting peer-reviewed research that shows the optimum climate for our biosphere. The first question that would naturally flow would be where is our current climate and trend in relation to this finding.

Strangely, nobody seems interested in this vital comparison. Not so strangely, the solutions that are frequently demanded in the most urgent voice, all converge on a socialist worldview: statism, bigger government, higher taxes, less personal liberty, even fewer people. That bigger picture tells me all that I need to know about “climate science”.

For some real-world evidence of climate change, you could point to the wonderful tourist must-see destination at Mesa Verde, the largest national park of its kind. That park exists due to climate change that no person dedicated to rational thought would attribute to human activity.

With respect to the idea that humans are causing harmful changes to the climate at this very moment, I am waiting for some peer-reviewed papers that propose what the optimum climate is for our biosphere. The first question that would naturally flow would be where is our current climate and trend in relation to this finding.

It’s done to keep us in “a state of fear.”

Trouble is we don’t need or want their help, so we’re deniers who must be silenced for the good of the masses.

What brought this up? Not because there’re ‘deniers’ out there.

Staff at Baltimore Sun was mad, because Obama CHOSE to address CG graduates about the dire dangers they would face - Global Warming (Climate Change).

Even they know in their hearts that is stretching. Hence this LOL article.

For those who deny climate change is real, all you have to do is consider that the settlement of the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde became abandoned when a pervasive drought destroyed farming in that area about 1300 AD, long before Al Gore sounded the alarm.

I am awating sound research showing the optimum climate for our present biosphere. All I see in what passes for research on the climate is an attempt to secure the optimum level of government intrusion in our lives.

It is no surprise that almost every demand made by advocates of global warming converges on bigger government, higher taxes, less freedom and more restrictions on how we choose to live our lives. That tells me all I need to know about this massive fraud.

Earth’s climate system is so massive and so complicated that the “scientist” can only make Vegas style guesses and predictions. Actually, it is easier to win a million dollars in Vegas at craps than it is for climate scientists to precisely predict the earth temperatures 1, 5, 10, 20, 100 years from now.

Unfortunately, those same scientists would happily bet Americans livelihood and standard of living on those same predictions of doom and gloom.
