>>But, but, but, There isnt a single segment of the economy thats isnt better today off than when I took office. So sayeth the lyin king. Hmmm. Didnt we just read that some fast food/pizza places will soon be closing due to the $15/hr min wage. Odd eh?
A minimum wage pizza cook is not the same as an experienced adult who operates and/or repairs manufacturing machinery in your factory. Years ago, industry employed Operators and Maintainers in factories (along with the skilled labor of Electricians and Machinists). A couple decades ago, “business needs” forced Operators to become Operator/Maintainers with little or no increase in pay and the Maintainers were phased out through retirements.
Now, if a Capitalist had to start providing more services, would he expect full compensation for those services? Or would he just say, “Well, that’s the business climate and I have to provide more services (taking on higher costs) for the same price.”
When I started on my career that lasted 36+ years, we did whatever it took to get the plant up and running regardless of “trade”. Once the union got firmly established, you would have to call an electrician to change a bulb, or a plumber to tighten a leaky faucet etc. I had already become evil management by then and some of the folks I had worked side by side with became increasingly hostile over the years and lazier as well. “Not My Job.” Pretty sad.
