The only disinformation is the lies and nonsense being spewed by the pro-union protectionists on this forum.

Exports to Canada and Mexico have tripled since NAFTA. These are inflation-adjusted numbers. Tripled.

Any industry that was hurt since NAFTA was hurt not because of NAFTA but because of unions and over-regulation.

The only one full of crap is you and the rest of the protectionists who spew these lies.

"Protectionist use the “trade deficit” as a tool hammering free trade, but they can’t explain the damage that is done by having one."

Not true. There has been a host of studies done on the matter and testimony in front of the US Congress.

http://www.epi.org/publication/trade-deficits-consequences-policy-implications/

From the Congressional Research Service: "Although large trade deficits do not necessarily reduce the total level of economic activity, they can alter the composition of domestic output and employment. The rising exchange rate generated by the net inflow of foreign capital increases the incentive to allocate resources away from production of domestic tradable goods, and toward the import of foreign tradable goods. In most circumstances, the market churning associated with U.S. trade deficits can be expected to have a negative effect on the output and employment of the U.S. tradable goods sectors such as manufacturing.

"This effect on the composition of U.S. output was evident during the period from 2000 to 2007. From 2000 to 2007, the real output for the overall economy increased at a 2.5% average annual rate; however, real output of the manufacturing sector increased at a significantly slower 0.5% average annual rate, indicating that the manufacturing sector was not advancing apace with the wider economy. Also during the 2000-2007 period, manufacturing employment fell from about 17.3 million employees to 13.8 million employees, a fall of about 3.5 million jobs. A sharp fall during the 2001 recession was not unusual, but a failure of manufacturing employment to increase during the subsequent economic expansion was unusual. "

The TPA is avaliable for public consumption. There is NOTHING secret about the bill that Ted Cruz just voted for. Nothing.

Ok, I am confused. What was the bill or portions of the bill which were not public and which Senators had to go to a restricted room to read?

It was the ACTUAL trade deal, the TPP, that people were making a big deal about the secrecy of it.

It was never going to make it through with the secrecy method. So they passed the TPA.

TPA is passed so it can be brought to light without AFL-CIO bagged Congressmen and Senators killing it with 1000 paper cuts of amendments.

Obama has gained no powers from this. That is a myth. That is sheer hyperbole.

Then why did they bother to vote on it in the first place? Because they granted him fast track powers, powers he did not have prior to the vote, powers which required a vote to grant. How is that an exaggeration?

“It doesn’t matter, I bought lots of ammo in the ‘90s.”

I only started back in 12 when I got a call from son-in-law when he called me from xxxxx here in Florida and told me go buy mags, ammo, guns ...He is retired from Army now but still thinks it’s gonna hit fan if Obambi doesn’t ‘get out of the way.’

The only one full of crap is you and the rest of the protectionists who spew these lies.

Thus sayeth the newbie on the block who distorts and lies to suit his own needs.

Tell me: How many good paying manufacturing & textile jobs existed in the United States before NAFTA, and 10 years after NAFTA?

Do you know? I do. Do you know where America's textile industry is now? It's NON-EXISTENT. Thailand, China, Viet Nam and other Asian countries now make the overwhelming majority of clothes sold here in the U.S.

Of all the cars GM sells globally, how many cars did GM manufacture in the US prior to NAFTA?

How many now? And, how many are simply "assembled" here with the minimum amount of "Made in America" content required to be considered "Made in America" by our corrupt Government?

The only one full of crap on this thread is you, little boy. Newbie even. Methinks you're not going to last very long here. Surprised your nick is still here actually.

"I will vote for what is in the interest of America, and the American people !"

I understand your disgust with the two parties. I was writing about the conventional outcome where Republicans have the chance of winning the Congressional and Executive branches. Given the District of Corruption, there will be the typical shenanigans and We the People will get the short end of the stick by those who are in it to line their pockets. However, because of your passion about this situation, let me give you hope. You are to be the first to know. There will be an unconventional people's effort to win the White House that I am not now able to write about until its launch in June, 2015.

Good son in law! :-)

I’m afraid the stuff is going to hit the fan with or without
the jug-eared Won. The rule of law in DC can’t get this
degraded without consequences.

Yea that’s right. Throw some red meat into the mix to try and win people over. Martians dont like. Nobody likes Martians. Therefore the right decision must be to be for it.

Are you a 20 something fresh out of some poli-sci class?
