Quadcopter 101 channel has lots of great advice and videos.

The link above is to his review of the Syma. It is why I bought one for my son.

And yes even I and Mrs p6 can fly it.

It cost around $60 on Amazon.

There are new quads that have new features like return to home and for the same or lower price.

I stash away from first person view quads.

My wife bought me 2 for Christmas. The Syma X5C and the DJI Phantom I. The Syma was to learn to fly with before I was allowed to take the DJI out of the box.

I’m glad she did that. It took some effort to learn with the Syma but I got the concept down a lot better. Just about anyone can take the DJI out of the box and fly it the 1st time. You simply let go of the sticks and they return to center and the quad will go into a hover and if you lose the signal or lose sight of it you can turn the controller off and it will return to it’s start point.

The X5C you have to work to get to hover and the controls are very tight so a small twitch will send it whichever direction you twitched.
