I’m with you on the “smartest” bit...

Learned to read early, got a head start on my peers, then coasted on that too long. Graduated in the top half. Barely.

Though I’m still the go-to guy for unusual knowledge at work :)

Example “Hey Ex, I saw on TV where President Johnson used this one limo all 5 years he was in office....why not 4 or 8?” Good question really, but easily answered :)

We could all have heads-up displays in our eyes so that when we looked out on a city block we would see Yelp reviews superimposed over each of the restaurants and shops.

The heads-up displays would not be physically implanted in our eyes. It would be part of that cell phone implant you mentioned, most likely on or in the brain. It would merge display information into the data sent by our eyes along the optical pathways into the brain. I read an article recently, about a quadriplegic who received a brain implant on the cerebral cortex, allowing him to move robotic arms to serve his needs (like feeding and drinking for himself), just by thinking what he wanted the robotic arms to perform. The cerebral cortex is responsible for higher brain functions like thought, reasoning and memory. These devices are being tested now on humans, and after FDA approval we will be able to have these cool new gadgets.

another thing I always wondered is that if dinosaurs didn’t become extinct would they have ever evolved into something intelligent and capable enough of anything other than foraging and existing

Not likely. Current thought is that they existed close to a billion years on our planet, while we have been around a tiny fraction of time in comparison. We evolved very quickly in mere thousands of years, which is a blip on Earth's time scale. According to current scientific thought.

Cool. Can I get one that adds a rose tint to everything I see?

Can I get one which identifies people that post on FR so I know to avoid them as they're likely to have guns that could accidentally go off and kill me?

so not only would life on another planet have to exist but it would have to be intelligent enough to evolve to the point where it could create space travel. What are the odds?

Mine have never accidentally gone off. But I could claim they did. A gadget like the one you are mentioning would be as reliable as a lie detector. Would you be willing to risk your life on such a gadget? As for a rose tint, I had a pair of $5 rose-tinted sunglasses in the sixties, a lot cheaper solution than a gadget.

Oh, we created space travel. Can we survive the Obamas that put brakes on further space travel? If we can, and we create cyborg tech enabling us to live very long lives, long odds are that we may encounter other intelligent space travelers. It may take millions of years, sadly. I would not want to live that long.

Heck, the AdminMods could send the drones too. I’m going to have to read all the articles and spend more time previewing my posts...

Faster computers will facilitate more poorly written code. Code could become a million times less time efficient and we’d never notice.

That’s exactly what a developer friend of mine says about the extremely complex systems he builds.
