Chevy still has 6,000 unsold last-gen Volt hybrids

The 2016 Chevy Volt promises to be a much better hybrid than its predecessor, with a lower price and better performance... and unfortunately for GM, that improvement might be hurting sales of the outgoing model. The Detroit Free Press reports that there were roughly 6,000 unsold 2015 Volts as of April, or more than twice the 2,779 that sold in the first four months of the year. Sales are down 46 percent versus the same period a year ago, and dealers appear willing to make some serious concessions to clinch a deal.

Desperate to amp up sales of its Chevy Volt, General Motors is lowering prices and planning to offer a cheaper model that doesn’t go as far on a single charge as the existing model.

Featuring a smaller, cheaper battery system, the new model Chevy Volt is going into production in Detroit in 2015.

obama should requisition these vehicles for all the poor disenfranchised & criminal illegal aliens who are crossing our borders . obama should give them these vehicles on one condition-drive them back to Mexico/s

Otherwise they should be driven by the aforementioned off the highest cliff & into the sea....never to be seen again.

It can be done you know-/s

Each one of these vehicles sold at an incredible loss. Not just to GM, but to all the government investment(pay-offs) to that entire supply chain.

It is a mega failure.

I would seriously be concerned about a garage fire where the charger would be located. It’s occurred. I would be concerned about the car itself starting on fire. There have been a couple teslas that weren’t even hooked up to a charger in a garage starting on fire.

More concerned with the opportunity costs of this car.

Each one of them that rolls off the lot costs over 233k, yet they are selling them for 30k.

The cost isn’t realized because of all the government grants.

Yep, they are in the motor pool, haven’t seen a one out on the road. Gov Plates are pretty easy to spot.

They must all be in Washington, DC.

Imagine ANY Republican president doing what Obama did with the volt.

I mean, the press would be merciless.

The democrats would be merciless.

All the money lost. The massive amount to make the car, and the $200,000+ loss every time one sells.

they’d be opening investigations into the battery maker and every other company supplying things for the volt, to hunt down kickbacks and where all the grant money went.

With Obama, not a peep.

Not surprised but the hypocrisy is obviously blatant for everyone to see.

They say now the new volt will be able to go even less distance because they’re reducing battery capacity?

How can this be a positive? WHo cares if they lower the price? The car is going to suck even worse.

Rename the vehicle the “obama motors group (OMG) chariot,” or “chair” for short and distribute them to the upper ranks of democrat legislators. It’s most appropriate that as many of demRATs as possible get the chair.

I’m shocked you’d write such a thing.

Perhaps he had a spark of creativity.

If the thing let loose, you might be *charged* with *battery*, for stirring up *static*.

I, for one, am *electrified*.

I must now go do some *ohms*.

After I don my tinfoil.
