Where to listen (I know “map” still says WMEX...):
http://howiecarrshowfans.com/wheretolisten.php

Haven’t been as active as before with this list; I do still do the ping, etc. Used to post each and every column but you can find these at the Herald site or Howie’s site howiecarrshow dot com. Certainly things were up in the air late last year and we waited to find Howie’s new home (WMEX) in Boston...only to find four months later he got back to his previous one, WRKO. That and a couple other dozen stations around New England.

What’s happening with...

WRKO: By mid June the new morning show will be in place with Kim Carrigan and another host to be named later; followed by Financial Exchange 10-noon (yes I guess it did get renewed) and yes WRKO did announce they are not renewing Rush. Kuhner will get the noon slot; this may happen sometime in June or July. Then Howie, Levin etc.

WMEX: Someone else (Daly XXL of N.C.) is now leasing AM 1510 WMEX, which did have Howie for four months. Now they will have (as of June 2) Joe Ligotti “the guy from Boston” who used to do weekends on WTKK, mornings 6-10 am followed by Herald Radio till noon. A guy named Bill Keeler will be on at noon (don’t know who he is)—yes while there are rumors they may get Rush, we don’t know for sure, and Michele “McScreamer” McPhee will be on 3-6 pm opposite Howie. Unknown show at 6 pm (maybe Hannity or Beck? ) then Savage at 9 pm

I don’t get to listen to too much of Howie these days; at my job it’s tough to scan trucks coming in and out of loading docks and still keep an ear on Howie’s show (other than on breaks). Sometimes I record parts of Howie’s show via the pro version of Tune In, to hear back later. I could do podcasts etc (now paid though some ways can be had to get them for free...see howiecarrshowfans dot com forum for more info).

>>Keeler in the Morning
A Utica area native who has worked in Albany, Syracuse, Providence and of course, Utica.

The guy apparently getting the noon slot at WMEX as of Tuesday the 2nd.

Thanks as always for your Howie Carr pings and updates, and invaluable radio information (an education for me), FRiend. Sorry you can't hear Howie as much these days.

Ugh, can't believe any radio station would give McScreamer a radio show!

Quick question: Did Howie screw WMEX when he returned to WRKO? It appeared to me that WMEX went out of their way to accommodate Howie after he was freed from Entercom / WRKO. Now he's back on WRKO, happy as a clam.

I still listen to Howie via our local station, WHYN 560, Springfield (we live in CT near the MA border).

Maybe;not sure.Maybe they figured
there was a good chance RKO
wouldn’t take him back

And by the way WMEX will not
run Rush L. http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2015/05/27/wmex-will-not-carry-rush-limbaugh/e2n0kXLxRoRkXJ3CrMmgPM/story.html?event=event25

Howie losing WCAP as an affiliate in June—maybe RKO put up a stink about a station in their signal reach also carrying Howie

CAP may have found RKO getting the show back hurt them as some advertisers would rather go with bigger stations/signals like 680

Only had time to skim the article... will read in-depth later (thanks for the link!).

Wow... how do you / can you hear Rush on the radio in the Boston area?

I remember just a few years ago there was that Rush-dedicated radio station in Boston (1200 AM?), and many accompanying billboards along the highways sporting pics of Rush Limbaugh. That all went bust, right?

580 and 94.9;Cape Cod,95.1; NH,610
and RI, 920.Rush may be on a few
more weeks on 680.

Via Howie’s twitter
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CHz_fn6WUAEny1N.png:large

It says Howie’s show is in 7 New Hampshire markets and an eighth reportedly on the way...wonder who?
let’s see
Manchester WFEA 1370
Dover WTSN 1270
New London WNTK 99.7
Keene WKBK 1290/107.5
Laconia WEMJ 1490
Lebanon WUVR 1490/98.9
Wolfeboro WASR 1420

Wonder where the 8th is?
Concord? (or would that be part of Manchester market...107.7 WTPL?)
Nashua? (1590 or 900?)
Rochester? but it’s kinda near Dover
Conway? Littleton?...where...?

It looks like Howie has made the decision to no longer have Avi Nelson on? The commentary by Sandy/Nancy or whatever she is calling herself is absolutely insipid. Guaranteed to have me tuned to BZ or BUR within 30 seconds of hearing her on.

I am often in the Fort Devens area. Trust me, the RKO signal reaching that area is weak at best.

I wish he’d go on WATD or some other FM station with a clear signal

No way would WATD do that —knowing owner Ed Perry—though he is buying WXBR AM 1410 in Brockton (Wiki: “An agreement to sell the station to WATD owner Ed Perry was reached on April 29, 2015”). But who knows...

I think Howie on a 3-7pm WATD stint would do well.

Marshfield is part of the Boston radio market. I don’t know if Ed Perry would put it on or if Howie as syndicator would allow it—and WRKO and maybe even WBSM or WXTK may not want someone infringing oin their territory (true, Levin is on both WRKO and the new WKOX but the latter station is weak at night, even if RKO’s directional north-south night signal could also bew considered weak). RKO is paying Howie to be an affiliate and here’s a station that would infringe on part of their territory.

Yes it would be good for Howie to be on FM—he is, on some stations like WXTK—but these things have to be considered. WRKO won’t simulcast on FM, other than for those with an hd radio where they are on the HD2 of WEEI 93.7

Sadly, RKO is barely audible south of Quincy on many days; the jokes Howie makes about their signal have a grain of truth to them.

Sad because it's supposed to push north-south after dark at least to avoid stations in Balt., Raleigh, Toronto and Binghamton.
Supposed WRKO day signal

Supposed WRKO night signal
