I know somebody who runs a black car service (limo) that has wheeled around several high ranking married repected members of Congress (one a married conservative Republican)and heard the stories about what went on with these people and their young female staffers.Political corruption and sexual deviance seems to go together, no wonder these politicians are leading us all to hell in a handbasket.
Power corrupts.
I remember, back in my days of working on/around Capitol Hill, all the attractive young women and men who ruthlessly try to land a Congressman. Either for career advancement or just sport. Regardless of that Congressman’s marital status. If you were a male Congressman wanting to get laid it was an all you can eat buffet. If you were a weak willed Congressman, you were pretty easy prey.
I also know that a lot of male Congressmen, usually at the insistence of their wives, had staff who were designated to shadow their Congressman and run off the vultures.
I was more House-side, but heard the Senate was much, much worse. A lot of Senators have what are called “hideaways” in the Capital, which are secret private rooms they can trick out any way they’d like. And pretty much use however they’d like.
“Political corruption and sexual deviance seems to go together”
Power and sex and inevitable sexual abuse all go together.
Most people cannot handle the power of doing anything they “want”.
Until you have it, you wont understand how power can corrupt even the most noble man
I agree. Except let’s at least recognize that some who don’t get involved in such behavior it is to a considerable extent because they don’t have much opportunity.
It is well known that power and fame is even more aphrodisiac to many women than money. So these guys get some of the same opportunities as rock stars and pro athletes.
I suspect it’s a little easier to be faithful to your wife when you don’t have hot chicks throwing themselves at you.
I have had to put up with this myself for 30-some years, but have nevertheless not cheated on the wife.
(That’s a joke, son. The women throwing themselves at me part, not the marital faithfulness part.)
